次に、例示的なものであって限定的なものではない図面について述べれば、
図1は、情報記憶媒体の等角図であり、
図2は、PMMA/ロイコメチレンブルーベースコートで被覆した情報記憶媒体に入る入射光10及びアルミニウム層で反射される透過光12を示す略図であり、
図3は、時間に対する情報記憶媒体のパーセント反射率で測定したロイコメチレンブルーからメチレンブルーへの転化に関する速度論的曲線であり、

式中、Yは水素又はメチル基であり、R5はアルキル基、好ましくは炭素原子数1〜約20のアルキル基である。R5で表されるアルキル基の若干の非限定的な例には、メチル、エチル、n−プロピル、イソプロピル、n−ブチル、イソブチル、sec−ブチル、tert−ブチル、ペンチル、イソペンチル、ヘキシルどがある。
この実施例では、PMMA/ロイコメチレンブルー被覆溶液の調製を記載する。
この実施例では、PMMA/ロイコメチレンブルー層を有するディスクの製造を例示する。実施例1のPMMA/ロイコメチレンブルー被覆溶液約3mLを、スピンコーター上に保持したDVDの内径の周囲にリングとして供給した。500rpmで60秒間スピンコートした後、被膜は不粘着性であり、ほとんど無色(例えば、約65%のパーセント反射率)であった。このディスクをDVDプレイヤーに挿入したところ、完全に再生可能であった。
実施例2で得られた被覆ディスクを周囲室内条件で放置し、その間にDr.Schenk PROmeteus MT−136E光ディスクテスターを用いて様々な時点で平均パーセント反射率を測定した。パーセント反射率が低下するのに伴い、ディスクの色はほとんど無色から青色に変わった。ディスクを空気中に約1週間置いた後、ディスクは濃い青色となってDVDプレイヤーで再生されなかった(例えば、ディスクは約10%のパーセント反射率を有していた)。
この実施例では、実施例2及び3に記載したディスクが無効化し得ることを例示する。実施例3で得られた青色ディスクを、3重量部の家庭用漂白剤及び7重量部の水からなる溶液中に入れた。この溶液中に1晩放置した後、ディスクは再び無色(すなわち、約50%を超えるパーセント反射率)となり、被膜は除去されたように見えた。実施例2のディスクと同様にして製造した別のディスクを、密閉容器内で漂白剤溶液の上方に配置した。1晩放置した後、PMMA被膜の青色は消えた。いずれのディスクも、DVDプレイヤーで完全に再生できた。
この実施例では、PMMA/ロイコメチレンブルー層及びUVコートで被覆したDVDディスクの製造を例示する。下記の量の原料を使用した点を除き、実施例1と同様にして溶液を調製した。注記:Elvacite2008は低分子量型のポリ(メチルメタクリレート)である。
実施例5で得られた2枚のディスクについて、実施例4に記載した漂白剤試験を行った。ベースコートのみを有するディスクは、実施例4のディスクと全く同様に、漂白剤試験に不合格であった。しかし、UVトップコートを有するディスクは、漂白剤中に浸した場合又は漂白剤蒸気に暴露した場合にもその青色を失わかった。さらに、それはDVDプレイヤーで再生可能でなかった。これは、UV被膜を有する被覆DVDが漂白剤による無効化試験に合格することを例示している。
