Description
本発明は、光データ記憶媒体、特に限定再生型光データ記憶媒体に関する。
光、磁気及び光磁気媒体は、大きな記憶容量を記憶データのメガバイト当たりの妥当な価格で可能にする高性能記憶技術の主要なソースである。光媒体の使用は、オーディオ、ビデオ、及びコンピュータデータ記憶用途において、コンパクトディスク(CD)、DVD−5、DVD−9などの多層構造及びDVD−10及びDVD−18などの多面フォーマットを含むデジタル汎用ディスク(DVD)、光磁気ディスク(MO)及びCD−R、CD−RW、DVD−R、DVD−RW、DVD+RW、DVD−RAWなどの追記型及び書換型フォーマットなどのフォーマットにて普及している(これらを以下一括して「データ記憶媒体」と言う)。これらのフォーマットでは、データを基板上にデジタルデータ列としてエンコードする。記録済みの光媒体、例えばCDでは、データは通常、射出成形、スタンピングなどの方法でプラスチック基板の表面にエンボス形成したピット及びグルーブである。
記録可能な媒体では、データをレーザーによりエンコードし、そのレーザーを活性データ層に照射して、データ層に相変化を起こさせ、こうして一連の高反射性又は非反射性領域を生成し、データの流れを作り上げる。これらのフォーマットでは、レーザービームはまずプラスチック基板を通過してから、データ層に達する。データ層は、エンコードされたデータに従って、ビームを反射するか、反射しない。その後レーザー光はプラスチック基板を再度通過し、光学的検出システムに入り、そこでデータを解釈する。
用途によっては、光ディスクの再生可能寿命を制限するのが望ましい。例えば、購入者がデータ記憶デバイスをその供給者に返却する必要なしに、音楽、映画その他の形態のデジタルエンターテイメントへの一時的なアクセスを許すことへの関心が広がっている。具体的に述べると、限定再生型DVDの映画を購入する消費者はその映画への制限付きのアクセスしか許されない。設計上、限定再生型DVDに入れたデータへのアクセスは最初の使用から比較的短い時間が過ぎると消滅するようになっているからである。別の例として、消費者に魅力を示してソフトウェアを購入させるために、試用コンピュータプログラムを未来の消費者に提供する。そのプログラムは限られた期間だけ使用できるようになっている。このような各用途で、期限が過ぎると、ディスクを返却しなければならない。このような使用制限付き方式から派生するリサイクル問題は、限定再生型DVD自体のリサイクル可能性とDVD購入場所への、代表的には自動車での、少なくとも1回の旅程をなくすことによって均衡がとれる。
音楽、映画、その他の形態のデジタルエンターテイメント又はアクセス制限が適切なその他のデータへの制限付きのアクセスを許し、しかも制限されたアクセス期間の終了後に供給者に返却する必要のない機械再生可能な光ディスクが必要とされている。限定再生型光ディスクがこの問題を解決する。
DVDなどの限定再生型ディスクは様々な方法で製造されている。一つの方法では、反射層を多孔性バリヤー層で保護し、所定の時間が過ぎると反射層が酸化されるようにした、ディスクを形成している。反射層がある酸化レベルに達すると、そのディスクはもはや読み取り不能である。したがって、酸素が基板層を通過するのにかかる時間が、限定再生型ディスクの再生時間にとって非常に重要である。さらに、制限されたアクセス期間がDVDの酸素感応性だけに依拠する場合、適当な手段を講じて、基板が必要なレベルの酸素透過性を有し、所定の時間までは酸素が反応層に到達しないようにする必要があり、こうしてDVDが制限されたアクセス期間中は完全に再生可能状態に留まることを実現する。

上述したように、限定再生型データ記憶媒体を、データ記憶媒体の有用な寿命期間を短縮する不測の事態から保護する必要がある。本発明は、以下の説明、実施例及び特許請求の範囲から明らかになるように、これらのまた関連する問題への新規な解決策を提供する。
本発明の限定再生型光データ記憶媒体は、
第1基板、
反射層、
前記基板と前記反射層との間に配置されたデータ層、
1種以上のキャリヤ及び1種以上の反応性材料を含む反応層、及び
反応層とレーザー入射面との間に配置された光学的に透明な第2基板を備え、
前記第2基板は25℃で約0.1〜約1.35Barrerの範囲の酸素透過率を有し、第2基板はポリメタクリレートコポリマー又はポリメタクリレートホモポリマーもしくはコポリマーのブレンドを含有する。

本明細書及び特許請求の範囲において、多数の用語に言及するが、これらの用語は以下の意味をもつと定義される。
単数表現は、文脈上明らかにそうでない場合以外は、複数も含む。
「所望に応じて」は、後述する事象や状況が起こっても起こらなくてもよいことを意味し、関連する説明は事象が起こった場合と事象が起こらなかった場合両方を包含する。
「再生時間」は、限定再生型データ記憶媒体が再生装置のエラーなしに普通に再生される合計時間として定義される。
ここで用いる用語「DMBPC」は、1,1−ビス(4−ヒドロキシ−3−メチルフェニル)シクロヘキサンとして定義される。
ここで用いる用語「DMBPA」は、ジメチルビスフェノールA、即ち2,2−ビス(4−ヒドロキシ−3−メチルフェニル)プロパンとして定義される。
ここで用いる用語「DDDA」は、ドデカン二酸として定義される。
本発明のデータ記憶媒体は、第1基板、反射層、データ層、反応層及び第2基板を備える。データ記憶媒体はさらに、吸光層及び接着剤層を含んでもよい。一実施形態では、データ層は第1基板と反射層との間に位置する。第1基板及び第2基板両方に用いるプラスチック材料が、種々の設層工程中並びに最終ユーザによる保管中の変形を防止するのに十分な熱及び機械的安定性をもつのが望ましい。即ち、プラスチック材料は、その後の加工パラメータ(例えば後続層の設層)、例えばほぼ室温(約25℃)から約150℃までのスパッタ温度や、その後の保管条件(例えば温度が約70℃にも達する高熱の自動車)に耐えることができなければならない。本発明の一実施形態では、第1基板及び第2基板は、ガラス転移温度が約100℃以上である熱可塑性樹脂から構成することができる。
第1基板及び第2基板に用いるのに適当な材料の例としては、アモルファス、結晶性及び半結晶性熱可塑性材料、例えばポリ塩化ビニル、ポリオレフィン(線状及び環状ポリオレフィンを含み、具体的にはポリエチレン、塩素化ポリエチレン、ポリプロピレンなどを含むが、これらに限定されない)、ポリエステル(ポリエチレンテレフタレート、ポリブチレンテレフタレート、ポリシクロヘキシルメチレンテレフタレートなどを含むが、これらに限定されない)、ポリアミド、ポリスルホン(水素化ポリスルホンなどを含むが、これらに限定されない)、ポリイミド、ポリエーテルイミド、ポリエーテルスルホン、ポリフェニレンスルフィド、ポリエーテルケトン、ポリエーテルエーテルケトン、ABS樹脂、ポリスチレン(水素化ポリスチレン、シンジオタクチック及びアタクチックポリスチレン、ポリシクロヘキシルエチレン、スチレン−コ−アクリロニトリル、スチレン−コ−無水マレイン酸などを含むが、これらに限定されない)、ポリブタジエン、ポリアクリレート(ポリメチルメタクリレート(PMMA)、メチルメタクリレート−ポリイミド共重合体などを含むが、これらに限定されない)、ポリアクリロニトリル、ポリアセタール、ポリカーボネート、ポリフェニレンエーテル(2,6−ジメチルフェノール由来のもの及び2,3,6−トリメチルフェノールとの共重合体などを含むが、これらに限定されない)、エチレン−酢酸ビニル共重合体、ポリ酢酸ビニル、液晶重合体、エチレン−テトラフルオロエチレン共重合体、芳香族ポリエステル、ポリフッ化ビニル、ポリフッ化ビニリデン、ポリ塩化ビニリデン、及びテトラフルオロエチレン(例えばテフロン(登録商標))が挙げられるが、これらに限定されない。
本発明の一実施形態では、第2基板は少なくとも1種の熱可塑性樹脂から構成され、25℃で約0.1〜約1.35Barrerの範囲の、好ましくは25℃で約0.2〜約1.2Barrerの範囲の酸素透過率を有する。ビスフェノールAポリカーボネートの透過率は1.39Barrerである。酸素透過率が比較的高いので、ビスフェノールAポリカーボネートは、本発明の限定再生型DVDの再生時間を延長するのに適当でなく、そのため第2基板用にうまく順応できない。本発明の一実施形態では、第2基板は、ポリメタクリレートコポリマーであるか、ポリメタクリレートホモポリマーもしくはコポリマーを含有するブレンドである。ポリ(メチルメタクリレート)ホモポリマー自体は透過率が0.116x1013cm3・cm/(cm2・sec・Pa)であり、この値は34℃で0.154Barrerに等しい(Encyclopedia of Polymer Science,vol VI,p.549参照)。ポリメチルメタクリレートのホモポリマー自体は、酸素透過率が低いので、限定再生型DVDに非常に適当というわけではない。しかし、本発明の一実施形態では、メタクリレートを他の単量体と共重合して、所望の範囲内の酸素透過率を有するポリメタクリレートコポリマー組成物を生成することができる。別の実施形態では、ポリ(メチルメタクリレート)ホモポリマーを他のポリマーとブレンドして、所望の範囲内の酸素透過率を有するブレンド組成物を生成することができる。さらに他の実施形態では、ポリメチルメタクリレートコポリマーを他の熱可塑性樹脂とブレンドして、所望の範囲内の酸素透過率を有するブレンド組成物を生成することができる。
25℃で約0.1〜約1.35Barrerの範囲の酸素透過率を有するポリアクリレート類の例としては、構造式Iに対応する構造単位を有するポリアクリレートがある。
別の実施形態では、第2基板は構造式IIに対応する構造単位を有するポリマー1種以上を含有する。
本発明の種々の実施形態において用いる用語「アルキル」は、炭素及び水素原子を含有し、所望に応じて炭素及び水素に加えて原子、例えば周期律表の15、16及び17族から選ばれる原子を含有する線状アルキル、枝分れアルキル、アラルキル、シクロアルキル、ビシクロアルキル、トリシクロアルキル及びポリシクロアルキル基を示す。用語「アルキル」はアルコキシド基のアルキル部分も包含する。種々の実施形態において、線状及び枝分れアルキル基は、炭素原子数1〜約32のもの、具体的な例を挙げると、限定されないが、所望に応じてC1−C32アルキル、C3−C15シクロアルキルもしくはアリールから選ばれる基1つ以上で置換されていてもよいC1−C32アルキル、及び所望に応じてC1−C32アルキルから選ばれる基1つ以上で置換されていてもよいC3−C15シクロアルキルがある。特定の具体例を挙げると、メチル、エチル、n−プロピル、イソプロピル、n−ブチル、sec−ブチル、tert−ブチル、ペンチル、ネオペンチル、ヘキシル、ヘプチル、オクチル、ノニル、デシル、ウンデシル及びドデシルがある。シクロアルキル及びビシクロアルキル基の具体例には、シクロブチル、シクロペンチル、シクロヘキシル、メチルシクロヘキシル、シクロヘプチル、ビシクロヘプチル及びアダマンチルがあるが、これらに限らない。種々の実施形態において、アラルキル基は炭素原子数7〜約14のものであり、その例にはベンジル、フェニルブチル、フェニルプロピル及びフェニルエチルがあるが、これらに限らない。種々の実施形態において、本発明の種々の実施形態で使用されるアリール基は、環炭素原子数6〜18の置換又は非置換アリール基である。これらのアリール基の具体例には、所望に応じてC1−C32アルキル、C3−C15シクロアルキルもしくはアリールから選ばれる基1つ以上で置換されていてもよいC6−C15アリールがあるが、これらに限らない。アリール基の特定の具体例には、置換又は非置換フェニル、ビフェニル、トルイル及びナフチルがある。
第2基板に用いるポリメタクリレートコポリマーは、ランダム、交互又はブロック共重合体いずれでもよい。本発明の一実施形態では、ポリメタクリレートコポリマーはランダムコポリマーである。一実施形態では、第2基板はメチルメタクリレートとスチレンのコポリマーである。本発明の別の実施形態では、第2基板は、約10〜約90モル%の構造単位がメチルメタクリレートから誘導されたポリメタクリレートコポリマーを含有する。ポリメタクリレートは混和性の他のポリマーとブレンドして、特定の限定再生型光データ記憶媒体、例えば限定再生型DVDの必要条件に合致するよう調節した酸素透過率を有する組成物を得ることができる。
本発明の一実施形態では、小さな分子の添加剤をポリメタクリレート含有組成物に添加することにより、第2基板の酸素透過率を調節することもできる。小さな分子の添加剤の例としては、反可塑剤、顔料、離型剤、熱安定剤、紫外線吸収剤及びこれらの混合物がある。
ある光媒体フォーマットでは、第2基板の厚さが、DVDに規定された厚さとは異なることがある。例えば、提案されているBlue−rayビデオディスクでは、データ層を100μmのフィルムで空気から分離する。この場合、要求されるフィルムの透過率は適切な拡散遅延時間を与えるように低くしなければならない。例えば、透過率1.39Barrerを有する厚さ100μmのポリメタクリレートフィルムについては、遅延時間が13分と予測される。透過率0.013Barrerを有するフィルムについては、遅延時間が24時間と予測される。一実施形態では、第2基板の厚さが約0.5mm〜約0.7mmの範囲にある。本発明の別の実施形態では、第2基板の厚さが約0.05mm〜約0.3mmの範囲にある。
本発明の一実施形態では、データ記憶媒体は、読み取りレーザー波長での複屈折が低く、光透過率が高い第2基板を備える、即ち光媒体装置で読み取り可能である。代表的には、読み取りレーザー波長は約390nm〜約430nmの範囲(青及び青紫色レーザー)にあるか、約630nm〜約650nmの範囲(赤色レーザー)にある。第2基板は、データ記憶媒体を媒体装置で読み取り可能にするために、十分な光学的明澄度、例えば約±100nm以内の複屈折を有する材料から構成する。
限定再生型データ記憶媒体の再生時間は、酸素透過率が25℃で約0.1〜約1.35Barrerの範囲にある光学的に透明な基板を用いることにより、効果的に延長できることを見出した。なお、1Barrer=10−10cm3(STP)・cm/cm2・s・cmHgである。反応層とレーザー入射面との間に配置される光学的に透明な基板は、「第2基板」と呼ぶ。酸素にさらされると、ほぼ無色である反応性材料、例えばロイコメチレンブルーが、酸化されて不透明なもしくは半透明な層(例えば深青色素、メチレンブルー)を形成する。不透明/半透明層を有するデータ記憶媒体はもはや媒体再生装置で再生できない。不透明になるのにかかる時間を調節することにより、色素層を用いて、所定の用途に望ましい寿命を有する限定再生型データ記憶媒体を構成することができる。色素層を最初に厚さ0.5〜0.7mmの第2基板により空気から分離した場合、酸素透過率が25℃で約0.1〜約1.35Barrerの範囲にある基板を使用すると、酸素透過率が約1.35Barrerより大きい第2基板を用いたデータ記憶媒体と比較して、色素層が不透明になる時間が著しく延長される。
代表的にはポリメタクリレートからなる第2基板の、色素層が不透明になる時間を延長する効果は、部分的には、酸素が第2基板中を拡散して反応性色素層に達する拡散速度に依存する。酸素は遅延時間後に第2基板を通して漏れ始める(Crank,The Methematics of Diffusion,2nd ed.,Oxford University Press,1975)。遅延時間は、数式1:
一実施形態では、第1基板はポリカーボネートである。ここで用いる用語「ポリカーボネート」は、1種以上のジヒドロキシ芳香族化合物から誘導された構造単位を組み込んだポリカーボネートを意味し、次式IIIの構造単位を有するコポリカーボネート及びポリエステルカーボネートを包含する。
−A1−Y1−A2− (IV)
式中のA1及びA2は各々二価の単環アリール基であり、Y1はA1とA2との間に介在する原子を0個、1個又は2個有する橋かけ基である。例えば1個の原子がA1とA2との間に介在する。この種の基の具体例には、−O−、−S−、−S(O)−、−S(O2)−、−C(O)−、メチレン、シクロヘキシル−メチレン、2−[2,2,1]−ビシクロへプチリデン、エチリデン、イソプロピリデン、ネオペンチリデン、シクロヘキシリデン、シクロペンタデシリデン、シクロドデシリデン、アダマンチリデンなどがあるが、これらに限定されない。別の例ではA1とA2との間に原子が介在せず、その具体例はビフェノールである。橋かけ基Y1は、炭化水素基又は飽和炭化水素基、例えばメチレン、シクロヘキシリデンもしくはイソプロピリデン又はヘテロ原子、例えば−O−もしくは−S−とすることができる。
式中のA1及びA2は各々二価の単環アリール基であり、Y1はA1とA2との間に介在する原子を0個、1個又は2個有する橋かけ基である。例えば1個の原子がA1とA2との間に介在する。この種の基の具体例には、−O−、−S−、−S(O)−、−S(O2)−、−C(O)−、メチレン、シクロヘキシル−メチレン、2−[2,2,1]−ビシクロへプチリデン、エチリデン、イソプロピリデン、ネオペンチリデン、シクロヘキシリデン、シクロペンタデシリデン、シクロドデシリデン、アダマンチリデンなどがあるが、これらに限定されない。別の例ではA1とA2との間に原子が介在せず、その具体例はビフェノールである。橋かけ基Y1は、炭化水素基又は飽和炭化水素基、例えばメチレン、シクロヘキシリデンもしくはイソプロピリデン又はヘテロ原子、例えば−O−もしくは−S−とすることができる。
ポリカーボネートは、A1とA2との間に介在する原子が1個だけのジヒドロキシ化合物の反応により製造することができる。ここで用いる用語「ジヒドロキシ化合物」は、例えば以下の一般式Vのビスフェノール化合物を包含する。
適当なジヒドロキシ化合物の具体例としては、二価フェノール類及び米国特許第4,217,438号に化合物名又は一般式又は特定式で記載されているようなジヒドロキシ置換芳香族炭化水素があるが、これらに限定されない。式Vで表される種類のビスフェノール化合物の具体例を列記すると、以下のものがあるが、これらに限定されない。1,1−ビス(4−ヒドロキシフェニル)メタン、1,1−ビス(4−ヒドロキシフェニル)エタン、2,2−ビス(4−ヒドロキシフェニル)プロパン(以下「ビスフェノールA」又はBPA)、2,2−ビス(4−ヒドロキシフェニル)ブタン、2,2−ビス(4−ヒドロキシフェニル)オクタン、1,1−ビス(4−ヒドロキシフェニル)プロパン、1,1−ビス(4−ヒドロキシフェニル)ブタン、ビス(4−ヒドロキシフェニル)フェニルメタン、2,2−ビス(4−ヒドロキシ−3−メチルフェニル)プロパン(以下DMBPA)、1,1−ビス(4−ヒドロキシ−t−ブチルフェニル)プロパン、ビス(ヒドロキシアリール)アルカン類、例えば2,2−ビス(4−ヒドロキシ−3−ブロモフェニル)プロパン、1,1−ビス(4−ヒドロキシフェニル)シクロペンタン、4,4’−ビフェノール、並びにビス(ヒドロキシアリール)シクロアルカン類、例えば1,1−ビス(4−ヒドロキシフェニル)シクロヘキサン及び1,1−ビス(4−ヒドロキシ−3−メチルフェニル)シクロヘキサン(以下DMBPC又はBCC)など。使用に適当なビスフェノール類の他の例として、9,9’−ビス(4−ヒドロキシフェニル)フルオレン及び9,9’−ビス(4−ヒドロキシ−3−メチルフェニル)フルオレンなどのフルオレノン誘導ビスフェノールがある。
ホモポリマーよりもカーボネート共重合体を用いるのが望ましい場合には、2種以上の異なる二価フェノールの重合から得られるポリカーボネート、又は二価フェノールとグリコールとのあるいはヒドロキシもしくは酸終端ポリエステルとのあるいは二塩基酸とのあるいはヒドロキシ酸とのあるいは脂肪族二酸との共重合体を使用することもできる。一般に、脂肪族二酸は炭素原子数2〜約40のものが有用である。脂肪族二酸としてドデカン二酸(DDDA)が好ましい。
ポリアリーレート樹脂、ポリエステルカーボネート樹脂及びポリアリーレートもしくはポリエステルカーボネートを含有するブレンドも使用できる。枝分れポリカーボネートも有用であり、線状ポリカーボネートと枝分れポリカーボネートのブレンドも有用である。枝分れポリカーボネートは重合中にトリス(4−ヒドロキシフェニル)エタンなどの枝分かれ剤を添加することにより製造できる。
ポリカーボネートとしては、A1及びA2各々がp−フェニレンで、Y1がイソプロピリデンであるビスフェノールAに基づくものが好ましい。ポリカーボネートの重量平均分子量が約5,000〜約100,000原子質量単位の範囲であるのが好ましく、約10,000〜約65,000原子質量単位の範囲がより好ましく、約15,000〜約35,000原子質量単位の範囲がもっとも好ましい。
ポリカーボネート組成物は、この種の樹脂組成物に通常用いられる種々の添加剤を含有してもよい。このような添加剤としては、例えば充填剤又は補強材、熱安定剤、酸化防止剤、光安定剤、可塑剤、帯電防止剤、離型剤、追加の樹脂、発泡剤など、ならびにこれらの添加剤の1種以上を含む組み合わせがある。
反射層は、データ読み出しを可能にするのに十分な量のエネルギー(例えば光)を反射するのに十分な厚さである必要がある。代表的には、反射層の厚さは約700Å以下とすることができ、通常約300Å〜約600Åの範囲の厚さが好ましい。適当な反射層は、光データ記憶媒体内に入っているデータを読み取るのに用いられる光の特定の波長を反射することのできる材料であればどのような材料を含んでもよい。反射性金属は反射層として用いるのに特に適当である。アルミニウム、銀、金、ケイ素、チタン、並びにこれらの金属の1種以上を含む合金及び混合物などの金属は、通常、反射性金属層として用いるのに適切である。本発明の一実施形態では、反射層はほぼアルミニウムのみからなる。本発明の別の実施形態では、反射層はほぼ銀のみからなる。本発明のさらに他の実施形態では、反射層はほぼ金のみからなる。
記録可能な媒体では、データをレーザーによりエンコードし、レーザー光を有効データ層に照射すると、データ層は相変化を生じ、こうして一連の高反射又は無反射領域を生成し、データの流れを作り上げる。これらのフォーマットでは、レーザービームがまず基板を通過してから、データ層に到達する。データ層では、エンコードされたデータに従って、ビームが反射されるか反射されない。次にレーザー光は基板内を戻り、光検出器システムに入り、そこでデータを解釈する。従って、一実施形態では、データ層は基板と反射層の間に配置されている。光用途向けのデータ層は代表的には基板層上のピット、ランド、グルーブ又はその組合せである。データ層を基板表面に埋設するのが好ましい。代表的には、射出成形−圧縮技術により基板を製造し、この場合金型に上述したとおりの溶融ポリマーを充填する。本発明の一実施形態では、第1基板の表面にデータ層をエンボス加工する。金型にはプレホーム、インサートなどを入れてもよい。ポリマー系を冷却し、そしてまだ少なくとも部分的に溶融状態にある間に、圧縮して、基板の所望部分に、即ち所望区域の片側又は両側に螺旋、同心その他の配向で配列されたピット及びランドのような所望の表面形状を刻印(インプリント)する。
磁気又は光磁気用途用に使用できるデータ層は、読み出し可能なデータを保存することができればどのような材料を含有してもよく、その例には、酸化物(例えば酸化ケイ素)、希土類元素−遷移金属合金、ニッケル、コバルト、クロム、タンタル、白金、テルビウム、ガドリニウム、鉄、ホウ素など、及びこれらの1種以上を含む合金及び組合せ、有機色素(例えばシアニン又はフタロシアニン系色素)、並びに無機相変化化合物(例えばTeSeSn、InAgSbなど)があるが、これらに限定されない。
反応層は、代表的にはキャリヤ及び反応性材料両方を含有する。反応性材料は記憶媒体に、コーティング処方として入れるか、接着剤処方として入れることができる。一実施形態では、反応性材料は酸素感応性色素である。本発明の別の実施形態で使用可能な反応性材料には、酸素感応性ロイコメチレンブルーもしくは還元形態のメチレンブルー、ブリリアントクレジルブルー、ベーシックブルー3、トルイジン0、及びこれら反応性材料の1種以上を含む反応生成物及び組合せがある。本発明の好適な実施形態では、酸素感応性色素がロイコメチレンブルーである。メチレンブルー色素VII及び関連色素VIII〜Xの構造を以下に示す。
反応層中の反応性材料の量は、データ記憶媒体の所望の使用可能寿命に応じて、調節することができる。一実施形態では、反応層中の反応性材料の量は、反応層の全重量に基づいて、約0.1重量%、好ましくは約1重量%のように少なくすることができ、一方反応性材料の上限量は約10重量%であり、約7重量%が好ましく、約6重量%がより好ましく、約5重量%がさらに好ましい。
上述した酸素感応性ロイコ色素に加えて、多数の他の色素及び光遮蔽材料を合成し、反応層に導入して、データ記憶媒体の有用な寿命期間を限定するように作用させることができる。例えば、他の適当な反応性材料が米国特許第4,404,257号及び同第5,815,484号に開示されている。反応層中に存在する反応性材料は、本発明の一実施形態では、2つ以上の反応性材料、例えば以下に例示するもの2つ以上の混合物を含有することができる。
本発明の一実施形態では、反応層はほぼ反応性材料のみからなり、好ましくは反応性材料をキャリヤと混合し、反射層の表面の少なくとも一部に対して、その上に堆積するか、その中に含浸するか、堆積と含浸を組み合わせて、反応層を形成する。処方タイプに応じて、キャリヤは、処方の全重量に基づいて、代表的には約65〜99.9%の範囲、好ましくは約70〜80%の範囲で存在する。反応性材料を接着処方に入れる場合には、キャリヤは接着処方の全重量に基づいて、代表的には約90〜99.9%の範囲、好ましくは約95〜99.5%の範囲で存在する。一実施形態では、キャリヤは、熱可塑性アクリルポリマー、ポリエステル樹脂、エポキシ樹脂、ポリチオレン、UV硬化性有機樹脂、ポリウレタン、熱硬化性アクリルポリマー、アルキド樹脂、ビニル樹脂など、並びにこれらのキャリヤの1種以上を含む反応生成物及び組合せよりなる群から選ばれる。ポリエステルには、脂肪族ジカルボン酸、例えばフマル酸又はマレイン酸と、グリコール、例えばエチレングリコール、プロピレングリコール、ネオペンチルグリコールなどとの反応生成物、並びにこれらの1種以上を含む反応生成物及び混合物がある。一実施形態では、反応層のキャリヤは、ほぼUV硬化性有機樹脂のみからなる。キャリヤを形成するのに使用できる適当なエポキシ化合物には、1個又は複数個のエポキシ官能基を有する単量体、二量体、オリゴマー又はポリマー状エポキシ材料が含まれる。キャリヤは、ビスフェノールAジグリシジルエーテルのようなエポキシ化合物の反応生成物を含有してもよい。キャリヤ成分としては、エポキシ誘導体とフェノール−ホルムアルデヒド樹脂などとの反応生成物も適当である。キャリヤとして用いるのに適当な他の有機材料には、Kehrらの米国特許第3,697,395号及び第3,697,402号に示されているような、ポリオレフィンとポリチオールの混合物もある。一実施形態では、キャリヤは、照射時に架橋アクリル樹脂を形成するUV硬化性有機樹脂を含む。本発明の別の実施形態では、キャリヤは熱可塑性アクリルポリマーである。本発明の他の実施形態では、キャリヤはポリ(メチルメタクリレート)を含有する。本発明の他の実施形態では、反応層は、キャリヤとしてポリ(メチルメタクリレート)を、酸素感応性反応性材料としてロイコメチレンブルーを含有する。キャリヤを構成する熱可塑性アクリルポリマーは、代表的には、インヘレント粘度が約0.300cm3g−1未満、好ましくは約0.250cm3g−1未満、より好ましくは約0.200cm3g−1未満である。
反応層の第2基板への密着性を高めるために、両者間にプライマーを使用してもよい。熱可塑性アクリルポリマーは、プライマーとして有用であり、単一種のアクリル酸エステル単量体から誘導されたアクリルホモポリマー、単一種のメタクリル酸エステル単量体から誘導されたメタクリルホモポリマー、2種以上の異なるアクリル酸エステル単量体、2種以上の異なるメタクリル酸エステル単量体、又はアクリル酸エステル単量体とメタクリル酸エステル単量体から誘導された共重合体など、並びにこれらのプライマーの1種以上を含む組合せを含む。上述した熱可塑性アクリルポリマーの2種以上の混合物、例えば2種以上の異なるアクリルホモポリマー、2種以上の異なるアクリル共重合体、2種以上の異なるメタクリルホモポリマー、2種以上の異なるメタクリル共重合体、アクリルホモポリマーとメタクリルホモポリマー、アクリル共重合体とメタクリル共重合体、アクリルホモポリマーとメタクリル共重合体、アクリル共重合体とメタクリルホモポリマーの混合物、並びにこれらの反応生成物の混合物も使用できる。
所望に応じて、種々のコーティング技術、例えば塗装、浸漬、スプレー、スピンコート、スクリーンプリンティング、インクジェットプリンティングなどを用いて、反応層を基板に設層することができる。例えば、反応層を、ポリカーボネートに対して実質的に不活性である、即ちポリカーボネートを攻撃しないか、悪影響しないが、キャリヤを溶解することができる、比較的揮発性の溶剤、好ましくは有機溶剤と混合することができる。一般に、溶剤中のキャリヤの濃度は、約5重量%以上であり、約10重量%以上が好ましく、ポリマーの上限範囲は約25重量%であり、約20重量%以下が好ましい。適当な有機溶剤の例には、エチレングリコールジアセテート、ブトキシエタノール、メトキシプロパノール、低級アルカノールなどがある。一般に、被覆溶液における溶剤の濃度は約70重量%以上であり、約75重量%以上が好ましく、ポリマーの上限範囲は約90重量%であり、約85重量%以下が好ましい。
反応層は所望に応じて種々の添加剤、例えば艶消剤、界面活性剤、チキソトロープ剤など、並びにこれら添加剤の1種以上を含む反応生成物及び組合せを含有してもよい。
データ記憶媒体の所望の寿命は、反応性材料が酸化してレーザー光吸収色素を形成する酸化速度に依存する。一方、酸化速度は反応層中の反応性材料(例えばロイコ色素)及び酸素の濃度に依存する。データ記憶媒体が空気にさらされた後の時間の関数としての反応層中の酸素の濃度は、基板を通しての酸素の透過率及び脱酸素剤の存在又は不在に依存する。
例えば、ロイコメチレンブルー(LMB)のメチレンブルー(MB)への酸化について、酸化速度は次の速度方程式2で表示できる。
反応層の厚さは、使用する特定の反応性材料、その反応層中の濃度、及び初期及び所望期間後の層の望ましい吸収特性に依存する。反応性材料をコーティング処方で適用する場合、反応層の厚さは1μmのように小さくでき、約2μmが好ましく、約3μmがより好ましい。上限として厚さは約15μm以上までとすることができ、約10μm以下が好ましく、約6μm以下がより好ましい。反応性材料を接着処方で適用する場合、反応層の厚さは30〜80μmの範囲とすることができ、より好ましくは40〜60μmの範囲とすることができる。
限定再生型光記憶媒体の所望の寿命期間を超えたら、反応層が所定の装置におけるレーザーの波長の入射光、反射光又はその組合せを十分な量吸収して、限定再生型光記憶媒体の読み取りを阻止する必要がある。本発明の一実施形態では、反射層からの初期反射率約50%以上を許す層を使用でき、初期反射率約65%以上が好ましく、初期反射率約75%以上がより好ましい。媒体が酸素又は空気に所望の期間(媒体の所望の許容再生時間である)さらされた後には、上記層は反射率を約45%以下とするのが好ましく、約30%以下がより好ましく、約20%以下がさらに好ましく、約10%未満が特に好ましい。反応性材料は記憶媒体にコーティング処方で導入してもよいし、接着処方で導入することもできる。反応層の例には、反射層に隣接するPMMA被膜中の酸素感応性色素、又は第2基板と反射層との間の接着層中の反応性色素が挙げられる。
反応層がまだ初期の非光吸収状態にある非被覆ディスク又は限定再生型ディスクについて、金属化反射層から反射された、光ヘッド検出器で測定される光の量Iinitialは、下記の等式:Iinitial/I0=Rinitialにより、光ディスクに入射するレーザー光の強度I0に関係づけることができる。反射率因子Rinitialは、反射層の固有反射率及び時間t=0におけるいずれかの層での吸収及び散乱による光強度の減衰を考慮に入れている。それより後の時点で、反応層が酸素にさらされた後、色素が光を吸収し、反射されて光ヘッド検出器に戻る光の強度を弱める。反応層における吸光度Aはランベルト−ベールの法則:
数式5を用いて、特定の反射率を達成するのに必要な色素濃度及び反応層厚さを計算することができる。例えば、反応層の厚さが3μmであり、色素がメチレンブルーで、反応層中に0.027mole/Lの濃度で存在し、ディスクの反射率が吸光性色素なしで70%である場合、吸光性色素を有するディスクの予測反射率は10%である。
データ記憶媒体を製造するには、まず、種々の前駆物質を適切に混合できる通常の反応器、例えば一軸又は二軸スクリュウ押出機、ニーダー、ブレンダーなどを用いて、基板材料を形成する。押出機は、基板材料前駆物質を、分解させることなく、溶融するのに十分な高温に維持する必要がある。同様に、押出機中での滞留時間は、分解を最小限に抑えるように制御する必要がある。約2分以下又はそれ以上の滞留時間を採用でき、約1.5分以下が好ましく、約1分以下が特に好ましい。所望の形状(代表的にはペレット、シート、ウェブなど)に押し出す前に、混合物を所望に応じて、溶融濾過、スクリーンパックの使用又はこれらの組合せなどにより、濾過して、望ましくない汚染物や分解生成物を除去することができる。プラスチック樹脂組成物を製造し終わったら、これを種々の成形技術、加工技術又はそれらの組合せにより、基板に形成することができる。使用可能な技術としては、射出成形、フィルム流延、押出、プレス成形、吹込成形、スタンピングなどがある。基板を製造し終わったら、追加の加工、例えば電気メッキ、コーティング技術(スピンコーティング、スプレーコーティング、蒸着、スクリーンプリンティング、塗装、浸漬など)、積層、スパッタリングなど、並びにこれらの加工技術の1つ以上を含む組合せを用いて、所望の層を基板上に配置することができる。代表的には、基板の厚さは約600μm以下である。
一実施形態では、限定再生型光データ記憶媒体は、射出成形したポリメタクリレート第1基板を備える。第1基板上に配置できる他の種々の層としては、データ層、誘電体層、反応層、接着剤層、反射層、保護層、第2基板層、吸光層の1つ以上がある。
代表的には、その上に反応層を配置する予定の複数層のアセンブリを脱気してから、反応層を適用する。例えば、その上に反応層を配置する予定のアセンブリは、成形した第1基板、データ層及び反射層から構成できる。代表的には、反応層をアセンブリに不活性環境中で適用することにより、脱酸素を実現する。さらに、反応層を形成するのに使用する反応物質を、代表的には不活性環境に維持する。限定再生型光記憶媒体を製造し終わった後、通常媒体を使用準備が整うまで不活性環境に保持しなければならない。代表的には、脱酸素は不活性ガス、例えば窒素、アルゴン、ヘリウム又は二酸化炭素で行うことができる。
限定再生型光データ記憶媒体は1つ以上の保護層を有することができる。保護層は、ほこり、油その他の汚染物から媒体を保護する。保護層の厚さは代表的には約10Å〜約100μmの範囲である。約100Å以下の厚さが特に好ましい。保護層の最適な厚さは通常、少なくとも部分的に、使用する読み取り/書き込み機構の種類、例えば磁気、光又は光磁気によって決められる。使用可能な保護層には、種々の材料の中でも、耐食性材料、例えば金、銀、窒化物(例えば窒化ケイ素、窒化アルミニウムなど)、炭化物(例えば炭化ケイ素など)、酸化物(例えば二酸化ケイ素など)、ポリマー材料(例えばポリアクリレートやポリカーボネート)、炭素フィルム(ダイヤモンド、ダイヤモンドライクカーボンなど)、並びにこれらの材料の1種以上を含む組合せがある。
限定再生型光データ記憶媒体は1つ以上の誘電体層を有することができる。誘電体層は、代表的にはデータ層の片側又は両側に配置され、多くの場合熱制御層として用いられる。誘電体層の厚さは代表的には約200Å〜約1,000Åの範囲である。厚さ200Å未満の誘電体層が好ましいこともある。誘電体層用の適当な材料には、環境内で適合しうる材料、好ましくは上下の層と反応性でない材料の中でも、窒化物(例えば窒化ケイ素、窒化アルミニウムなど)、酸化物(例えば酸化アルミニウムなど)、硫化物(例えば硫化亜鉛)、炭化物(例えば炭化ケイ素など)、並びにこれらの材料の1種以上を含む組合せがある。
上記層の任意の組合せを接着することのできる接着剤層が存在してもよい。接着剤層は、酸素透過性層を形成することができ、データ読み出し装置からまたデータ読み出し装置への媒体を通しての光の伝達を実質的に妨害しない(例えば、データ読み出し装置が用いる光の波長で実質的に透明であるか、媒体からの反射率約50%以上、好ましくは反射率約65%以上、より好ましくは反射率約75%以上を可能にするか、その両方である)材料であれば、どのような材料から構成してもよい。所望に応じて、接着層は反応層とすることができる、即ち酸素感応性色素を含有できる。使用可能な接着剤材料には、UV材料、例えばアクリレート(例えば架橋アクリレートなど)、シリコンハードコートなど、並びにこれらの材料の1種以上を含む反応生成物及び組合せがある。UV材料の他の例が米国特許第4,179,548号及び第4,491,508号に記載されている。接着層に用いる接着剤の調製に有用なモノアクリレート単量体としては、ブチルアクリレート、ヘキシルアクリレート、ドデシルアクリレートなどがある。有用な多官能性アクリレート単量体としては、例えば、ジアクリレート、トリアクリレート、テトラアクリレート及びこれらの組合せがある。
接着剤層は単一の多官能性アクリレート単量体から誘導しても、アクリレート単量体の混合物から誘導してもよい。代表的には、接着剤層組成物としては、2種以上の多官能性アクリレート単量体の混合物、好ましくはジアクリレートとトリアクリレートの混合物の紫外線誘起反応生成物を含有する組成物が好適であることを確かめた。しかし、例によっては、モノアクリレート単量体が好ましいこともある。所望に応じて、接着剤被膜は、非アクリル系UV硬化性脂肪族不飽和有機単量体を未硬化接着剤被膜の約50重量%以下の量含有でき、かかる単量体には、例えばN−ビニルピロリドン、スチレンなどの材料並びにこれらの材料の1種以上を含む反応生成物及び組合せがある。
接着剤層がアクリレート単量体の混合物を含有する場合、ジアクリレート対トリアクリレートの重量比が約10/90〜約90/10の範囲にあるのが好ましい。ジアクリレートとトリアクリレートの混合物の例には、ヘキサンジオールジアクリレートとペンタエリスリトールトリアクリレートの混合物、ヘキサンジオールジアクリレートとトリメチロールプロパントリアクリレートの混合物、ジエチレングリコールジアクリレートとペンタエリスリトールトリアクリレートの混合物、ジエチレングリコールジアクリレートとトリメチロールプロパントリアクリレートの混合物などがある。
接着剤層は、増感量、即ち接着剤被膜を光硬化させるのに有効な量の光開始剤を含有することもできる。一般にこの量は、接着剤被膜の全重量に基づいて、約0.01重量%、好ましくは約0.1重量%から約10重量%、好ましくは約5重量%までである。使用可能な光開始剤には、紫外線に照射されると適当なハードコートを形成するケトン型及びヒンダードアミン型材料のブレンドがある。ケトン化合物対ヒンダードアミン化合物の重量比が約80/20〜約20/80の範囲にあるのが好ましい。通常、約50/50もしくは約60/40混合物が十分満足である。
窒素などの非酸化性雰囲気で用いるのが好ましい、使用可能な他のケトン型光開始剤には、ベンゾフェノン及び他のアセトフェノン類、ベンジル、ベンズアルデヒド、及びo−クロロベンズアルデヒド、キサントン、チオキサントン、2−クロロチオキサントン、9,10−フェナントレンキノン、9,10−アントラキノン、メチルベンゾインエーテル、エチルベンゾインエーテル、イソプロピルベンゾインエーテル、α,α−ジエトキシアセトフェノン、α,α−ジメトキシアセトフェノン、1−フェニル−1,2−プロパンジオール−2−o−ベンゾイルオキシム、α,α−ジメトキシ−α−フェニルアセトフェノン、ホスフィンオキシドなどがある。これらの光開始剤の1種以上を含む反応生成物及び組合せも含まれる。
接着剤層は、所望に応じて、艶消剤、界面活性剤、チキソトロープ剤、紫外線安定剤、UV吸収剤及び/又は安定剤、例えばレゾルシノールモノベンゾエート、2−メチルレゾルシノールジベンゾエートなど、並びにこれら化合物の1種以上を含む反応生成物及び組合せを含有してもよい。安定剤は、未硬化UV層の重量に基づいて、約0.1重量%、好ましくは約3重量%から約15重量%までの量存在することができる。
以下に実施例を示して、本発明の方法をどのように実施し評価するかを当業者に詳しく説明するが、実施例は本発明者が発明とみなしている思想の範囲を限定するものではない。
反応層を用いる限定再生型DVDの製造方法
比較例1
ボトル内で60gのElvacite2010ポリ(メチルメタクリレート)(Ineos Acrylics社製)を300gの1−メトキシ−2−プロパノールに添加し、ローラミルで転動して溶解させることにより、PMMAの1−メトキシ−2−プロパノール溶液を調製した。この溶液をフラスコに移し、窒素の流れをゆっくり溶液表面に流しながら、約80℃に加熱した。カニューレチューブを用いて、脱気した溶液を窒素圧力下でゴム隔膜で閉じた脱気ボトルに移した。
比較例1
ボトル内で60gのElvacite2010ポリ(メチルメタクリレート)(Ineos Acrylics社製)を300gの1−メトキシ−2−プロパノールに添加し、ローラミルで転動して溶解させることにより、PMMAの1−メトキシ−2−プロパノール溶液を調製した。この溶液をフラスコに移し、窒素の流れをゆっくり溶液表面に流しながら、約80℃に加熱した。カニューレチューブを用いて、脱気した溶液を窒素圧力下でゴム隔膜で閉じた脱気ボトルに移した。
ゴム隔膜を取り付けた100mLフラスコ内で1.2gのメチレンブルー三水和物と0.80gのカンファースルホン酸を40gの1−メトキシ−2−プロパノールと合わせることにより、ロイコメチレンブルー溶液を調製した。窒素入口及び出口両方にシリンジ針を用いて、窒素の流れをフラスコに通しながら、撹拌した混合物を90℃の水浴で加熱した。熱い内に、シリンジにより4.2mLの2−エチルヘキサン酸錫(II)を添加してメチレンブルーを暗い琥珀色のロイコメチレンブルーに還元した。この溶液に0.6mLの流れ調整剤BYK−301(BYK Chemie製)を添加した。PMMA/ロイコメチレンブルー被覆溶液を調製するために、上記ロイコメチレンブルー溶液をシリンジに吸引し、0.2μmシリンジフィルターを通してから、上記PMMA溶液に注入した。
比較例2
この比較例では、サンドイッチ構造を用いて従来のディスクを製造する。下記の量の原料を使用した以外は、比較例1と同様に溶液を調製した。

比較例2に記載した通りに限定再生型ディスクを製造した。しかし、BPA−PC基板の代わりに、PMMA(ACRYLITE DQ501、CYRO Industries製)から成形した金属化なしの第2基板を使用した。金属化第1基板はBPA/DMBPC/DDDAターポリマーから成形した。
比較例2〜7の被覆ディスクを周囲条件下で放置し、この間適当な間隔でDR.SHENK PROmeteus計器モデルMT−136Eを用いて、平均反射率(%)を測定した。反射率が低下するにつれて、ディスクの色が本質的に無色から青に変わった。種々の組成(比較例2〜7)の金属化なし基板を用いて製造したサンドイッチ構造の限定再生型DVDについての反射率−時間変動を図1に示す。この一連のディスクについての図1に示した反射率変動から、種々の組成の金属化なし基板を用いることにより限定再生型DVDにある範囲の失効時間を設計できることが分かる。ポリカーボネートコポリマー又はブレンド中にDMBPC又はDMBPAいずれかが高濃度で存在する程、失効時間が長くなることが分かる。これは、これらの材料の酸素透過率がBPA−ポリカーボネートに比較して低いことと整合している。種々のポリカーボネート及びポリメタクリレートの酸素透過率を下記表1にまとめて示す。図1から、PMMAホモポリマーの金属化なしディスクからなるサンプルについての反射率変動は、種々のポリカーボネートからなるサンプルよりはるかにゆっくりであることも分かる。PMMAホモポリマーサンプルは、2週間後でもまだ再生可能であったので、その失効時間は許容レベルを超えた長さであった。このことで、PMMAホモポリマーより高い酸素透過率を有する本発明の組成物の必要性が実証される。
上記数式2〜5を同時に解いて、反応層中のロイコ色素が酸化されるにつれて限定再生型DVDの反射率が低下する挙動を予測した。ロイコ色素の初期濃度、有効速度係数keffなどのパラメータは、観察された反射率変動にもっともよくフィットするものを使用した。初期反射率R0は65%と仮定した。境界条件は、無限小の薄い反応層が金属化なし基板と接着層との間に位置する条件をシミュレートするように選んだ。これらの状況下で、酸素が金属化なし基板を通して拡散するにつれての反応層中の酸素の濃度を、数式3を用いて予測することができる。反射率の時間依存性を、基板材料における酸素拡散度が2x10−8cm2/sから1x10−9cm2/sまで変化する一連のシミュレーションで計算した。酸素溶解度は6.69x10−3[cc]/([cc][cmHg])で一定と仮定したが、これは1.35Barrer〜0.0067Barrerの範囲の透過率に対応する。この一連のシミュレーションについて得られる反射率変動から、異なる酸素透過率を有する種々の組成の金属化なし基板を用いることにより限定再生型DVDにある範囲の失効時間を設計できることが分かった。
実施例1〜10及び比較例8〜9
種々のポリメタクリレートの酸素透過率を種々のポリカーボネートと比較するために、フィルムを作製した。約2gのポリマーを30mlのメチレンクロライドに溶解した。溶液を0.45μmのシリンジフィルターで濾過し、ガラス板上に載せた直径14.3cmの開放ガラスリングに入れた。ガラス板と接触しているガラスリングの表面をすりガラスとして、ポリマー溶液の漏れを防止した。ポリマー溶液上に窒素雰囲気を維持して、乾燥中にメチレンクロライド溶液中で水分が凝縮するのを防止した。十分なメチレンクロライドが蒸発し終わった約4〜6時間後、ガラスリングを取り去り、フィルムをガラス板から剥離した。フィルムを加熱真空オーブンに数時間入れて、残留メチレンクロライドを除去した。フィルムの厚さは70〜100μmで、溶液中のポリマーの量を変更することにより調節できた。
種々のポリメタクリレートの酸素透過率を種々のポリカーボネートと比較するために、フィルムを作製した。約2gのポリマーを30mlのメチレンクロライドに溶解した。溶液を0.45μmのシリンジフィルターで濾過し、ガラス板上に載せた直径14.3cmの開放ガラスリングに入れた。ガラス板と接触しているガラスリングの表面をすりガラスとして、ポリマー溶液の漏れを防止した。ポリマー溶液上に窒素雰囲気を維持して、乾燥中にメチレンクロライド溶液中で水分が凝縮するのを防止した。十分なメチレンクロライドが蒸発し終わった約4〜6時間後、ガラスリングを取り去り、フィルムをガラス板から剥離した。フィルムを加熱真空オーブンに数時間入れて、残留メチレンクロライドを除去した。フィルムの厚さは70〜100μmで、溶液中のポリマーの量を変更することにより調節できた。
フィルムサンプルを2つの10cmx10cmアルミニウムホイルマスク(5cm2の円形ダイカット開口を有する)間に装着し、MOCONOX−TRAN1000計器の拡散セルに入れた。酸素雰囲気中で3〜4時間平衡化した後、試験ガス(1%の水素を含有する窒素)をクーロメトリー・センサに迂回させることにより酸素透過速度の測定を開始した。酸素透過速度が定常状態に達するまで、代表的には12〜24時間、測定を続けた。
以上好適な実施形態を説明し具体的に示したが、本発明の要旨から逸脱することなく種々の変更や置き換えが可能である。したがって、本発明は具体的な例示として説明したもので、そのような具体的説明や実施形態は本発明を限定するものと解釈すべきではない。
Claims (10)
- (a)第1基板、
(b)反射層、
(c)前記基板と前記反射層との間に配置されたデータ層、
(d)1種以上のキャリヤ及び1種以上の反応性材料を含む反応層、及び
(e)反応層とレーザー入射面との間に配置された光学的に透明な第2基板を備え、
前記第2基板は25℃で約0.1〜約1.35Barrerの範囲の酸素透過率を有し、第2基板はポリメタクリレートコポリマー又はポリメタクリレートホモポリマーもしくはコポリマーのブレンドを含有する、
限定再生型光データ記憶媒体。 - 前記第2基板のガラス転移温度が約100℃以上である、請求項1に記載の限定再生型光記憶媒体。
- 前記第2基板が構造式I:

請求項3に記載の限定再生型光記憶媒体。 - 前記第1基板がポリ塩化ビニル、ポリオレフィン、ポリエステル、ポリアミド、ポリスルホン、ポリイミド、ポリエーテルイミド、ポリエーテルスルホン、ポリフェニレンスルフィド、ポリエーテルケトン、ポリエーテルエーテルケトン、ABS樹脂、ポリスチレン、ポリブタジエン、ポリアクリレート、ポリメタクリレート、ポリアクリロニトリル、ポリアセタール、ポリカーボネート、ポリフェニレンエーテル、エチレン−酢酸ビニルコポリマー、ポリ酢酸ビニル、液晶ポリマー、エチレン−テトラフルオロエチレンコポリマー、芳香族ポリエステル、ポリフッ化ビニル、ポリフッ化ビニリデン、ポリ塩化ビニリデン、テトラフルオロエチレン、並びにこれら熱可塑性樹脂の1種以上を含む混合物、コポリマー、反応生成物及び複合材料よりなる群から選ばれる、請求項1に記載の限定再生型光記憶媒体。
- 前記熱可塑性樹脂がポリカーボネートを含有する、請求項5に記載の限定再生型光記憶媒体。
- 前記反応性材料が酸素感応性色素である、請求項1に記載の限定再生型光記憶媒体。
- 前記酸素感応性色素が、ロイコメチレンブルー、還元形態のメチレンブルー、ブリリアントクレジルブルー、ベーシックブルー3及びトルイジン0なる群から選択される、請求項7に記載の限定再生型光記憶媒体。
- (a)第1基板、
(b)反射層、
(c)前記基板と前記反射層との間に配置されたデータ層、
(d)1種以上のキャリヤ及び1種以上の反応性材料を含む反応層、及び
(e)反応層とレーザー入射面との間に配置された光学的に透明な第2基板を備え、
前記第2基板は、メチルメタクリレート−スチレン−アクリロニトリルターポリマー及びメチルメタクリレート−スチレン−エチルアクリレートターポリマーよるなる群から選ばれる、25℃で約0.2〜約1.2Barrerの範囲の酸素透過率を有するオレフィンポリマーを含有する、
限定再生型光データ記憶媒体。 - (a)Tgが約100℃超えであるポリカーボネートからなる第1基板、
(b)アルミニウムからなる反射層、
(c)前記基板と前記反射層との間に配置され、前記ポリカーボネートの表面にエンボス加工されたピット及びランドからなるデータ層、
(d)ポリ(メチルメタクリレート)及びロイコメチレンブルーを含む反応層、及び
(e)反応層とレーザー入射面との間に配置された光学的に透明な第2基板を備え、
前記第2基板は、メチルメタクリレート−スチレン−アクリロニトリルターポリマー及びメチルメタクリレート−スチレン−エチルアクリレートターポリマーよるなる群から選ばれる、25℃で約0.2〜約1.2Barrerの範囲の酸素透過率を有するオレフィンポリマーを含有する、
