Claims (29)

  1. 流体流路と、該流体流路中に配置された、該流体流路中の液体の流れを制限する三次元毛細管バリアとを含み、
    該三次元毛細管バリアが、
    (a)該流体流路の表面から第一の角度で突出するランプ部;
    (b)該流体流路の壁と実質的に平行なプラトー面;および
    (c)該プラトー面から該流体流路の該表面まで延びるクリフ面
    を含み、
    該クリフ面が、該第一の角度より10°以上急峻な第二の角度で該表面と交差する、
    流体デバイス。
  2. 流体流路と、該流体流路中に配置された、該流体流路中の液体の流れを制限する三次元毛細管バリアとを含み、
    該三次元毛細管バリアが、
    (a)該流体流路の表面から80°よりも小さい第一の角度で突出する第一のランプ部;
    (b)該流体流路の壁と実質的に平行なプラトー面;および
    (c)該プラトー面から該流体流路の該表面まで延びる第二のランプ部
    を含み、
    該第二のランプ部が、80°よりも小さい第二の角度で該表面と交差する、
    流体デバイス。
  3. 該第一の角度が60°以下である、請求項1~2のいずれか一項記載の流体デバイス。
  4. 該第一の角度が45°以下である、請求項1~2のいずれか一項記載の流体デバイス。
  5. 該第一の角度が30°以下である、請求項1~2のいずれか一項記載の流体デバイス。
  6. 該第二の角度が約80°~約100°である、請求項1記載の流体デバイス。
  7. 該第二の角度が約90°である、請求項1記載の流体デバイス。
  8. 該ランプ部、該クリフ面、および該プラトー面の少なくとも1つが、1つまたは複数の溝、リッジ部、凹み、段、エッチング模様または突出を含む表面を有する、請求項1記載の流体デバイス。
  9. 該第一のランプ部、該第二のランプ部、および該プラトー面の少なくとも1つが、1つまたは複数の溝、リッジ部、凹み、段、エッチング模様または突出を含む表面を有する、請求項2記載の流体デバイス。
  10. 外流体流路が、該三次元毛細管バリアから離間した第二の三次元毛細管バリアをさらに含む、請求項1~2のいずれか一項記載の流体デバイス。
  11. 該流体流路が、該流体流路中の開口部を介して該流体流路と流体連通した第一の装填リザーバをさらに含み、
    該開口部が該三次元毛細管バリアおよび該第二の三次元毛細管バリアの間に配置されて、該開口部を介して該流体流路に入る該液体が、該流体流路に沿って1つの方向に流れ、該三次元毛細管バリアで止まり、該流体流路に沿ってもう1つの方向に流れ、該第二の三次元毛細管バリアで止まることを許容する、請求項10記載の流体デバイス。
  12. 該開口部を介して該流体流路に入る該液体が、該流体流路の幅よりも長い経路に沿って該三次元毛細管バリアまたは該第二の三次元毛細管バリアまで流れる、請求項11記載の流体デバイス。
  13. 該開口部を介して該流体流路に入る該液体が、該液体のメニスカスが該三次元毛細管バリアまたは該第二の三次元毛細管バリアまたはその両方で止まるように流れる、請求項11記載の流体デバイス。
  14. 該流体デバイスが、1つまたは複数のブランチ型流体回路をさらに含み、該1つまたは複数のブランチ型流体回路それぞれが、等速電気泳動(「ITP」)ブランチと、該ITPブランチと連通した溶出ブランチとを含む、請求項10記載の流体デバイス。
  15. 該三次元毛細管バリアは、第一のバースト圧が該1つまたは複数のブランチ型流体回路に加えられたとき該液体によって破られるように構成および配設され、かつ該第二の三次元毛細管バリアは、第二のバースト圧が該1つまたは複数のブランチ型流体回路に加えられたとき該液体によって破られるように構成および配設されている、請求項14記載の流体デバイス。
  16. 該第一および第二のバースト圧はほぼ等しい、請求項15記載の流体デバイス。
  17. 該第一のバースト圧は該第二のバースト圧よりも大きい、請求項15記載の流体デバイス。
  18. 該第二の三次元毛細管バリアがクリフ型毛細管バリアであって、該クリフ型毛細管バリアが、
    該流体流路の表面から第三の角度で突出する第二のランプ部;
    該流体流路の該壁と実質的に平行な第二のプラトー面;および
    該第二のプラトー面から該流体流路の該表面まで延びる第二のクリフ面
    を含み、
    該第二のクリフ面が、該第三の角度より10°以上急峻な第四の角度で該表面と交差する、
    請求項10記載の流体デバイス。
  19. 該第二の三次元毛細管バリアがプラトー型毛細管バリアであって、該プラトー型毛細管バリアが、第一の角度のある面と第二の角度のある面とを含み、該第一および第二の角度のある面が、互いに対して斜めになっている、請求項10記載の流体デバイス。
  20. 該プラトー型毛細管バリアは、該プラトー型毛細管バリアで止まった後の該液体と、該プラトー型毛細管バリアに向かってもう1つの方向に流れ、該液体とは反対側で該プラトー型毛細管バリアで止まった後の第二の液体との間にエアギャップが形成するように構成および配設されている、請求項19記載の流体デバイス。
  21. 該液体流路と流体連通した気体流路、および、該気体流路と流体連通した空気ポートをさらに含み、該気体流路および該空気ポートが該三次元毛細管バリアと流体連通している、請求項1~2のいずれか一項記載の流体デバイス。
  22. 該三次元毛細管バリアが該気体流路に隣接して配置される、請求項21記載の流体デバイス。
  23. 該三次元毛細管バリアが該流体流路の幅にわたる、請求項1~2のいずれか一項記載の流体デバイス。
  24. 毛細管バリアを含んだ複数の流体流路をさらに含む、請求項1~2のいずれか一項記載の流体デバイス。
  25. 該流体流路が、約1mm~約3.8mmの範囲内の幅と、約0.1mm~約1.2mmの範囲内の高さを有する、請求項1~2のいずれか一項記載の流体デバイス。
  26. 該三次元毛細管バリアの該ランプ部が、該流体流路の高さを、約50μm~約2mmの範囲内の第一の高さから、約10μm~約30μmの範囲内の第二の高さまで徐々に減らすように構成されている、請求項1記載の流体デバイス。
  27. 該三次元毛細管バリアの該第一のランプ部および該第二のランプ部が、該流体流路の高さを、約50μm~約2mmの範囲内の第一の高さから、約10μm~約30μmの範囲内の第二の高さまで徐々に減らすように構成されている、請求項2記載の流体デバイス。
  28. 該第二の角度が、該第一の角度よりも15°以上急峻である、請求項1記載の流体デバイス。
  29. 該第二の角度が、該第一の角度よりも20°以上急峻である、請求項1記載の流体デバイス。
