本出願は、2013年4月26日に提出され、“Haptic Augmentation of Continuous Interactions with Bendable Displays”と題された米国仮特許出願第61/816605号への優先権を主張し、その全体は参照により本明細書に組み込まれる。
本開示の1つの例示的な実施形態は、タブレット等の移動装置を含む。移動装置は、タッチスクリーンディスプレイ、メモリ、及びこうした要素の各々と通信するプロセッサを備える。
図1は、一実施形態による触覚使用可能な適合的及び多面的ディスプレイのためのシステム100を示すブロック図である。図示の実施形態では、システム100は、バス106を介して他のハードウェアと通信するプロセッサ102を有するコンピュータ装置101を含む。コンピュータ装置101は、例えば、スマートフォン、タブレット、Eリーダ、ラップトップコンピュータ、デスクトップコンピュータ、ゲームコンソール、ゲームコントローラ、医療装置、自動車コンピュータ、携帯型ゲーム装置、又は腕時計、リストバンド、指輪、ブレスレット又はアンクレット等の装着可能装置を含んでもよい。
図7は、一実施形態による触覚使用可能な適合的及び多面的ディスプレイを提供するための方法を実行するためのステップの流れ図である。一部の実施形態では、図7のステップは、例えば、汎用コンピュータ、移動装置又はサーバにおけるプロセッサによって実行されるプログラムコードで実装されてもよい。一部の実施形態では、こうしたステップは一群のプロセッサによって実装されてもよい。一部の実施形態では、図7に示される1つ以上のステップは省略され又は異なる順番で行われてもよい。同様に、一部の実施形態では、図7に示されない追加のステップが実行されてもよい。以下のステップは図1に示されたシステムに関して記載された構成要素を参照して記載される。
触覚使用可能な適合的及び多面的ディスプレイには多数の利点がある。このようなシステムは、ユーザが装置を見なくても状態判断(例えば、装置の現在のモードの決定)を行うことを可能にしてもよい。従って、ユーザは、他のタスクに集中を維持することができてもよい。例えば、ユーザは、ディスプレイに焦点を合わせなくても、プログラムにおいて又はユーザインターフェースで利用可能な操作に関する判断を行うことができてもよい。同様に、触覚効果は、操作が利用可能である、完了している、又は所定レベルの重要度を有することの確認として機能してもよい。更に、一部の実施形態では、ユーザは、ユーザにとってより好都合又はアクセス容易な装置の部分と相互作用することによって状態判断を行うことができてもよい。例えば、一部の実施形態では、適合的ディスプレイの曲率(又は多面的ディスプレイの構成)のために、ユーザは、例えば、ユーザのポケットに配置された装置の側面と相互作用することによって、状態判断を行うことができてもよい。
上記の方法、システム及び装置は例示である。様々な構成によって、適宜、様々な手続き又は構成要素が省略、置換、又は追加されてもよい。例えば、代替的な構成では、方法は記載されたものとは異なる順序で実行されてもよく、及び/又はステージが追加、省略及び/又は結合されてもよい。また、所定の構成に関して記載された機能は、様々な他の構成に結合されてもよい。構成の異なる態様及び要素が、同様に結合されてもよい。また、技術は進歩するものであり、そのため要素の多くは例示であり、本開示又は請求項の範囲を限定しない。
Claims (20)
- 第1の平面にある第1の表面、及び前記第1の表面に隣接する第2の表面であって、前記第1の平面とは異なる第2の平面にある第2の表面を含むタッチセンサ面と、
触覚信号を受信して、触覚効果を出力するように構成される触覚出力装置と、
前記触覚出力装置及び前記タッチセンサ面に結合されるプロセッサであって、
イベントを決定すること、
前記イベントに少なくとも部分的に基づいて前記触覚効果を決定すること、
前記触覚効果に少なくとも部分的に基づいて前記触覚信号を決定すること、及び
前記触覚効果に関係付けられる前記触覚信号を前記触覚出力装置に送信すること
を行うように構成されるプロセッサと
を備える、システム。 - 前記タッチセンサ面は、適合的ディスプレイを含む、請求項1に記載のシステム。
- 前記タッチセンサ面は、多面的ディスプレイを含む、請求項1に記載のシステム。
- 前記第1の表面は、可動式ジョイントによって前記第2の表面に接続される、請求項3に記載のシステム。
- 前記イベントは前記第1の表面とのユーザ相互作用を含み、前記プロセッサは、
前記第2の表面とのユーザ相互作用を含む第2のイベントを決定すること、
前記第2のイベントに少なくとも部分的に基づいて第2の触覚効果を決定すること、
前記第2の触覚効果に少なくとも部分的に基づいて前記第2の触覚信号を決定すること、及び
前記第2の触覚効果に関係付けられる前記第2の触覚信号を前記触覚出力装置に送信すること
を行うように更に構成される、請求項1に記載のシステム。 - 前記タッチセンサ面は、装置の少なくとも1つの表面に適合される、請求項1に記載のシステム。
- 前記タッチセンサ面は、円筒形、球形、立方体、ピラミッド、プリズム、八面対、四面体、又は円錐形状に定められる、請求項1に記載のシステム。
- 前記タッチセンサ面は、装着可能又は把持可能な装置に関係付けられる、請求項1に記載のシステム。
- 前記装着可能な装置は、指輪、ヘッドバンド、ブレスレット、アンクレット、腕時計、又はリストバンドを含む、請求項8に記載のシステム。
- 前記第1の表面に隣接する第3の表面を更に含み、前記第3の表面は前記第1の平面及び前記第2の平面とは異なる第3の平面にある、請求項1に記載のシステム。
- 前記イベントは前記タッチセンサ面とのユーザ相互作用を含み、前記触覚効果は前記タッチセンサ面における前記ユーザ相互作用の場所に少なくとも部分的に基づく、請求項1に記載のシステム。
- イベントを決定するステップと、
前記イベントに少なくとも部分的に基づいて触覚効果を決定するステップと、
前記触覚効果に少なくとも部分的に基づいて触覚信号を決定するステップと
前記触覚効果に関係付けられる前記触覚信号を触覚出力装置に送信するステップと
を含む方法であって、
前記触覚出力装置は、タッチセンサ面に触覚効果を出力するように構成され、
前記タッチセンサ面は、第1の平面にある第1の表面、及び前記第1の表面に隣接する第2の表面であって、前記第1の平面とは異なる第2の平面にある第2の表面を含む、方法。 - 前記タッチセンサ面は、適合的ディスプレイを含む、請求項12に記載の方法。
