Abstract
【解決手段】本開示のスワブ、および材料、ならびにそれを作製する方法は、ランダムに配置された海島バイコンポーネント繊維を含む。

Description
本開示のスワブは、例えば接着剤によってアプリケーターの末端部分に付着した繊維を含有する。
ある数量(約30個ほど)の実験的な医療用スワブをPuritan Medical Products(Guilford、ME)のABSプラスティック「スティック」から、長さ0.5mm(0.020"、Flock-ln-Spectフロック繊維長光学測定器によって決定された公称長さ)のナイロン/PETの海/島型フロック繊維を用いて調製した。これらの実験的製作では2つの接着剤系;ポリウレタンゴム(K&Wポリウレタン接着剤-MECFLOCK L876/1、MEDCODUR H5530 2液性ポリウレタン接着剤、混合した85グラムのL876/1樹脂と15グラムのH5530硬化剤-Kissel and Wolfの製品;110℃、3時間で硬化、あるいは80℃、16時間で硬化)およびPuritan Medical ProductsからのUV光硬化性接着剤を利用した。
Claims (22)
- 生体試料を採取し、放出するための、アプリケーターおよび海島バイコンポーネント繊維を含むスワブ。
- 前記バイコンポーネント繊維が、第1のポリエステルの海材料および第2のポリエステルの島材料を含む、請求項1に記載のスワブ。
- 前記第1のポリエステルが、前記第2のポリエステルよりも低い融点を有する、請求項2に記載のスワブ。
- 前記第1のポリエステルが、アルカリ性溶液に対して前記第2のポリエステルよりも大きな溶解度を有する、請求項2に記載のスワブ。
- 第1のポリエステルが、水酸化ナトリウムのアルカリ性溶液に対して第2のポリエステルと比較して大きな溶解度を有する、請求項4に記載のスワブ。
- 第1のポリエステルが、水中約5重量%〜約50重量%の水酸化ナトリウムを含有する水酸化ナトリウム溶液であるアルカリ性溶液に対して第2のポリエステルと比較して大きな溶解度を有する、請求項5に記載のスワブ。
- 第1のポリエステルが、水中約10重量%の水酸化ナトリウムのアルカリ性溶液に対して第2のポリエステルと比較して大きな溶解度を有する、請求項6に記載のスワブ。
- 第1のポリエステルが、加熱したアルカリ性溶液に対して第2のポリエステルと比較して大きな溶解度を有する、請求項4に記載のスワブ。
- 第1のポリエステルが、約170°F〜約190°Fの温度に加熱したアルカリ性溶液に対して第2のポリエステルと比較して大きな溶解度を有する、請求項8に記載のスワブ。
- 繊維が前記アプリケーターの末端部分に付着している、請求項1に記載のスワブ。
- 前記繊維が前記末端部分に接着剤で接着されている、請求項10に記載のスワブ。
- 前記接着剤が、光硬化性アクリル接着剤およびポリウレタン接着剤からなる群から選択される、請求項11に記載のスワブ。
- 前記バイコンポーネント繊維が、ポリエチレンテレフタレートの海材料およびポリアミドの島材料を含む、請求項1に記載のスワブ。
- 前記バイコンポーネント繊維が、繊維当たり10〜3000個の島部分を含む、請求項1に記載のスワブ。
- 前記繊維が、繊維当たり10〜240個の島部分を含む、請求項14に記載のスワブ。
- 前記繊維が、繊維当たり10〜64個の島部分を含む、請求項14に記載のスワブ。
- 前記繊維が、繊維当たり10〜37個の島部分を含む、請求項14に記載のスワブ。
- 前記繊維が、繊維当たり10〜36個の島部分を含む、請求項14に記載のスワブ。
- 前記繊維が、繊維当たり10〜24個の島部分を含む、請求項14に記載のスワブ。
- 前記繊維が、繊維当たり24〜36個の島部分を含む、請求項14に記載のスワブ。
- バイコンポーネント繊維を前記アプリケーターに接着するステップを含む、請求項10に記載のスワブを形成する方法。
