(i)充填剤の前処理:
充填剤粒子の混合物は製紙工場から得られた。この混合物は50%のPCC及び50%のGCCの混合物であった。このPCCは非分散のAlbacar HO(スペシャルティ・ミネラル・オブ・ベスレヘム(Specialty Mineral of Bethlehem)、ペンシルバニア州により製造された)、及びこのGCC(これもスペシャルティ・ミネラル・オブ・ベスレヘム(Specialty Mineral of Bethlehem)、ペンシルバニア州により製造された)は化学的に分散された。この適用の目的のためには、用語「非分散」の定義は、化学的分散剤の助けなしで流体中に分布することを意味する。この適用の目的のためには、用語「化学的分散」は、化学的分散剤の助けにより流体中に分布することを意味する。
セルロース繊維の濃いストックは製紙工場から得られた。このストックは冷却され、次いで浄化された急流水(white water)により約0.7%の濃度まで希釈された。このセルロース繊維は60%広葉樹漂白クラフト・パルプ(HBKP)、20%針葉樹漂白クラフト・パルプ(SBKP)、及び20%漂白ケミサーモ・メカニカル・パルプ(BCTMP)であった。図1に示される、さまざまな組成の充填剤のサンプルが添加された。強度混和剤64170も添加された。次いで、各サンプルにより製造された紙の伸張強度が測定され、図1にプロットされた。
実施例1と同様にセルロース混合物及び充填剤が提供された。この充填剤は実施例1と同様に処理された。3kg/トンの強度混和剤64170が、1つは100%PCCを含み、1つは50%PCC−50%GCCを含み、及び1つは50%PCC−50%GCCであって、GCCが7527で前処理されている、3つのサンプルに加えられた。生成された紙のサンプルが分析され、結果が、図2に示されているが、図2では、所与の紙の伸張強度が、紙マットの合計固体成分に対する充填剤の百分率に対してプロットされている。
製紙機械により1360m/minの機械速度で、108gsmの被覆原紙を製造する機械試行が行われた。セルロース繊維が40%漂白ケミサーモ・メカニカル・パルプ(BCTMP)、40%HBKP40%、SBKP20%である組成物が提供された。紙料は、70%PCC及び30%GCCである充填剤混合物も含んでいた。試行の間、保持助剤、サイズ剤、及びカチオン性でんぷんを含む全てのウエットエンド添加剤は一定に保たれた。生成された紙の強度はスコット・ボンド・テスター(Scott Bond tester)を用いて測定された。
Claims (20)
- 増大された充填剤含有量を有する紙の製造方法であって:充填剤粒子、少なくとも1つの強度混和剤、及びセルロース繊維ストックの混合物を提供する工程、前記充填剤粒子をマット化剤の組成物で処理する工程、前記充填剤粒子をセルロース繊維ストックと混合する工程、前記混合物を少なくとも1つの前記強度混和剤で処理する工程、及び紙マットを前記混合物より製造する工程を含み、少なくとも10%の前記充填剤粒子は沈降炭酸カルシウムであり、及び少なくとも10%の前記充填剤粒子は粉末化炭酸カルシウムであり、前記セルロース繊維ストックが複数のセルロース繊維及び水を含み、並びに前記マット化剤の組成物が紙マット中の強度混和剤の性能を増進する方法。
- 前記紙マットが、前記混合物より一部分の水を除去することにより形成される、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記炭酸カルシウムの少なくとも一部分が、非分散炭酸カルシウム、炭酸カルシウム分散スラリー、チョーク、及びこれらの任意の組み合わせよりなるリストから選ばれる、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記炭酸カルシウムの少なくとも一部分が、分散スラリー形態の炭酸カルシウムであり、この分散スラリー炭酸カルシウムが、ポリアクリル酸重合体分散剤、ポリリン酸ナトリウム分散剤、カオリン粘土スラリー、及びこれらの任意の組み合わせから選ばれる少なくとも1つの品目を更に含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記充填剤粒子混合物が、50%の粉末化炭酸カルシウム及び50%の沈降炭酸カルシウムである、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記マット化剤の組成物が凝固剤である、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記マット化剤の組成物が、無機凝固剤、有機凝固剤、縮合重合凝固剤、及びこれらの任意の組み合わせよりなるリストから選ばれる凝固剤である、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記マット化剤の組成物が、200〜1,000,000の範囲の分子量を有する凝固剤である、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記マット化剤の組成物が、ミョウバン、アルミン酸ナトリウム、ポリ塩化アルミニウム、アルミニウムクロロヒドロキシド、クロロヒドロキシアルミニウム、ポリクロロヒドロキシアルミニウム、硫酸化ポリ塩化アルミニウム、ポリ硫酸ケイ酸アルミニウム、硫酸第二鉄、塩化第二鉄、エピクロルヒドリン−ジメチルアミン(EPI−DMA)、EPI−DMAアンモニア架橋重合体、二塩化エチレン及びアンモニアの重合体、二塩化エチレン重合体、ジメチルアミン重合体、多官能性ジエチレントリアミンの縮合重合体、多官能性テトラエチレンペンタミンの縮合重合体、多官能性ヘキサメチレンジアミン縮合重合体、多官能性二塩化エチレンの縮合重合体、メラミン重合体、ホルムアルデヒド樹脂重合体、カチオン性に荷電したビニル付加重合体、及びこれらの任意の組み合わせよりなるリストから選ばれる凝固剤である、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記マット化剤の組成物が、AcAm/DADMAC共重合体である、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記強度混和剤がグリオキシル化されたアクリルアミド/DADMAC共重合体である、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記強度混和剤の前記紙マットの固体成分に対する比率が、1トンの紙マット当たり0.3〜5kgの強度混和剤である、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記GCC粒子の少なくとも一部分が前記マット化剤の組成物により処理されている、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記PCC粒子が前記マット化剤の組成物により全く処理されていない、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記強度混和剤がカチオン性でんぷんである、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記紙マットが固体部分を有し、及び前記紙マット中の前記充填剤粒子が、前記紙マット中の全体の固体成分の質量の50%を超える、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記強度混和剤及び前記マット化剤の組成物が同じ電荷を担う、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記充填剤粒子の混合物が、有機顔料、粘土、タルク、二酸化チタン、アルミナ三水和物、硫酸バリウム、水酸化マグネシウム、及びこれらの任意の組み合わせよりなるリストから選ばれる1品目を更に含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
