Abstract
【解決手段】発光素子の透明導電膜からなる電極に接する補助電極を、マスクを用いた成膜により形成し、且つ当該補助電極を酸化させることによって当該補助電極とEL層との直接的な接触を防止する発光装置の作製方法を提供する。また、当該方法により作製された発光装置、当該発光装置を用いた照明装置を提供する。

Description
図1は本発明の一態様である照明装置の断面及び上面の模式図であり、図1(A)は図1(B)における(a)−(b)断面を拡大して示したものである。なお、図はわかりやすさのため、各要素における拡大、縮小率は一定ではなく、図における各要素の厚さ、長さ、大きさの比率がそのまま本発明の一態様である照明装置の厚さ、長さ、大きさの比率を表すわけではない。
本実施の形態では、本発明の一態様により形成された発光装置を用いた照明装置について図5(A)及び図5(B)を用いて説明する。

Claims (10)
- 可視光に対して透光性を有する基板上に、
第1の電極と第2の電極と、前記第1の電極及び前記第2の電極との間に位置するEL層を備え、
前記第1の電極と前記EL層の間に前記第1の電極に接して金属を含む補助電極を有し、
前記補助電極とEL層の間に前記金属の酸化物からなる絶縁層を有する発光装置。 - 請求項1において、前記補助電極を構成する金属がアルカリ土類金属である発光装置。
- 請求項1において、前記補助電極を構成する金属がアルミニウムである発光装置。
- 請求項1乃至請求項3のいずれか一項において、
前記EL層における前記第1の電極及び前記絶縁層に接する層が、正孔輸送性の材料とアクセプター物質を含む複合材料からなる層である発光装置。 - 請求項1乃至請求項4のいずれか一項において、
前記補助電極がストライプ状に複数形成されている発光装置。 - 請求項1乃至請求項5のいずれか一項に記載の発光装置を備えた照明装置。
- 可視光に対する透光性を有する基板上に、透明導電膜からなる第1の電極を形成し、
前記第1の電極上にマスクを介して成膜することでパターン形成された金属を含む補助電極を形成し、
前記補助電極を酸化することによって前記補助電極の表面に前記補助電極を構成する金属の酸化物からなる絶縁層を形成し、
前記第1の電極及び前記絶縁層を覆ってEL層を形成し、
前記EL層上に第2の電極を形成する発光装置の作製方法。 - 請求項7において、前記補助電極を酸化する工程を、酸素プラズマに曝すことによって行う発光装置の作製方法。
- 請求項7又は請求項8において、前記補助電極を、アルミニウム又はアルカリ土類金属により形成する発光装置の作製方法。
- 請求項7乃至請求項9のいずれか一項において、
前記補助電極を、スパッタ法又は蒸着法によって形成する発光装置の作製方法。
