Abstract
【解決手段】 帯状の正極と帯状の負極とが、帯状のセパレータを介して重ねられ、かつ渦巻状に巻回された電池用の巻回電極体であって、その外周部において、加熱により被着体に対する剥離強度が低下する熱剥離テープによって巻き止めされていることを特徴とする電池用巻回電極体、および本発明の電池用巻回電極体を用いたことを特徴とする電池である。本発明の電池は、本発明の電池用巻回電極体を電池容器に収容し、熱剥離テープの剥離強度が低下して巻回電極体の巻き緩みが生じる温度以上に電池容器を加熱した後に、電池容器内に電解液を注入する工程を経て製造される。

Description
<正極の作製>
正極活物質であるLiCoO2:85質量部、導電助剤であるアセチレンブラック:10質両部、およびバインダであるPVDF:5質量部を、N−メチル−2−ピロリドン(NMP)を溶剤として均一になるように混合して、正極合剤含有ペーストを調製した。このペーストを、集電体となる厚みが15μmのアルミニウム箔の両面に、塗布長が900mmになるように間欠塗布し、乾燥した後、カレンダー処理を行って、全厚が150μmになるように正極合剤層の厚みを調整し、幅55mmになるように切断して、長さ950mm、幅55mmの正極を作製した。更に、この正極のアルミニウム箔の露出部にリード体を取り付けた。
負極活物質である黒鉛:95質量部、およびバインダであるPVDF:5質量部を、NMPを溶剤として均一になるように混合して、負極合剤含有ペーストを調製した。このペーストを、集電体となる厚みが10μmの銅箔の両面に、塗布長が920mmになるように間欠塗布し、乾燥した後、カレンダー処理を行って、全厚が142μmになるように負極合剤層の厚みを調整し、幅57.5mmになるように切断して、長さ960mm、幅57.5mmの負極を作製した。更に、この負極の銅箔の露出部にリード体を取り付けた。
前記の正極と前記の負極とを、PP製微孔性フィルム(厚み20μm、空孔率45%)を介して重ね、渦巻状に巻回した後、最外周部に熱剥離テープ[日東電工社製「リバアルファ No.319Y−4LS(商品名)」、剥離強度が低下して巻回電極体に巻き緩みが生じる温度:90℃]で巻き止めして、巻回電極体を得た。なお、巻回電極体の外径は16.6mmであった。
前記の巻回電極体を、有底円筒状で、ニッケルメッキを施した鉄製の電池容器(内径17.4mm、高さ65mm)に挿入し、電池容器を95℃で3分加熱した。その後、巻回電極体の緩みを均一にするために電池容器を数回ゆすってから電池容器内を減圧し、その減圧状態で非水電解液(エチレンカーボネートとエチルメチルカーボネートとを1:2の体積比で混合した溶媒に、LiPF6を1.2mol/lの濃度で溶解させた溶液)を注入し、電池容器内を常圧に戻した後、電池容器の開口部を常法に従って封止して、18650型の円筒形の非水電解液電池を作製した。
<セパレータの作製>
有機バインダであるSBRのエマルジョン(固形分比率40質量%):100gと水:4000gとを容器に入れ、均一に分散するまで室温で攪拌した。この分散液に、耐熱性微粒子であるベーマイト粉末(板状、平均粒径1μm):4000gを4回に分けて加え、ディスパーにより2800rpmで5時間攪拌して均一なスラリー(耐熱多孔質層形成用スラリー)を調製した。PE製微孔性フィルム(樹脂多孔質層:厚み16μm、空孔率40%、平均孔径0.02μm、PEの融点135℃)の片面に、前記のスラリーをマイクログラビアコーターによって塗布し、乾燥して耐熱多孔質層を形成することで、厚みが22μmのセパレータを得た。なお、前記のセパレータは、耐熱多孔質層における耐熱性微粒子の体積比率が91体積%、耐熱性微粒子の空孔率が48%であった。
PP製微孔性フィルムセパレータに代えて、PE製微孔性フィルム(PEの融点135℃、厚み20μm、空孔率45%)をセパレータに用いた以外は、実施例1と同様にして円筒形の非水電解液電池を作製した。
熱剥離テープに代えてPP基材の粘着テープを巻回電極体の巻き止めに使用し、巻回電極体を電池容器に挿入した後の加熱工程を省略した以外は、実施例1と同様にして円筒形の非水電解液電池を作製した。

Claims (7)
- 帯状の正極と帯状の負極とが、帯状のセパレータを介して重ねられ、かつ渦巻状に巻回された電池用の巻回電極体であって、
外周部において、加熱により被着体に対する剥離強度が低下する熱剥離テープによって巻き止めされていることを特徴とする電池用巻回電極体。 - セパレータが、融点が80〜150℃の熱可塑性樹脂を主成分とする微孔性フィルムからなる樹脂多孔質層と、耐熱性微粒子を主成分として含む耐熱多孔質層とを有するものである請求項1に記載の電池用巻回電極体。
- 熱剥離テープの剥離強度が低下して巻き緩みの生じる温度が、100℃以下である請求項1または2に記載の電池用巻回電極体。
- 帯状の正極と帯状の負極とが、帯状のセパレータを介して重ねられ、かつ渦巻状に巻回された巻回電極体と、電解液とが、電池容器内に収容された電池であって、
前記巻回電極体に、請求項1〜3のいずれかに記載の電池用巻回電極体を使用したことを特徴とする電池。 - 巻回電極体の巻き止めのための熱剥離テープの剥離強度を低下させ、巻回電極体に巻き緩みを生じさせた請求項4に記載の電池。
- 電池容器が円筒形である請求項4または5に記載の電池。
- 帯状の正極と帯状の負極とを、帯状のセパレータを介して重ね、更に渦巻状に巻回した後に、その外周部を、加熱により被着体に対する剥離強度が低下する熱剥離テープによって巻き止めして巻回電極体を形成する工程と、
前記巻回電極体を電池容器に収容する工程と、
前記熱剥離テープの剥離強度が低下して前記巻回電極体に巻き緩みの生じる温度以上に電池容器を加熱する工程と、
前記加熱後に電池容器内に電解液を注入する工程とを有することを特徴とする電池の製造方法。
