Description
本特許出願は、2006年7月17日に出願の米国仮特許出願第60/807554号の優先権を主張する。
本発明は、物品をラベリングするための非対称多層高分子フィルム、更には当該高分子フィルムを有する接着剤含有ラベルストック及び粘着ラベルに関する。
(A)上面及び下面を有し、0.94g/cm3以下の密度の少なくとも1つのポリエチレン及び少なくとも1つのポリプロピレンを含有する印刷スキン層と、
(B)上面及び下面を有し、少なくとも1つのポリプロピレンコポリマーと、少なくとも1つのポリプロピレンホモポリマーと、チーグラーナッタ又はメタロセン触媒による反応により調製され、0.86〜0.98g/cm3の範囲の密度の少なくとも1つのポリエチレンを含有するコア層と、
(C)上面及び下面を有し、不飽和カルボン酸又は不飽和のカルボン酸誘導体によってグラフト化された少なくとも1つのポリオレフィンを含有する粘着スキン層とを含んでなり、上記印刷スキン層(A)の下面が上記コア層(B)の上面上に存在し、上記粘着スキン層(C)の上面が上記コア層(B)の下面上に存在する。
印刷スキン層(A)は、少なくとも1つのポリエチレン(PE)と少なくとも1つのポリプロピレン(PP)とを含有する。上記ポリエチレンは、最高約0.94g/cm3、又は約0.86若しくは0.87〜約0.94g/cm3の密度範囲のポリエチレンを含有する。上記ポリエチレンは、超低密度ポリエチレン(VLDPE)、低密度ポリエチレン(LDPE)、直鎖状低密度ポリエチレン(LLDPE)、中密度ポリエチレン(MDPE)、又は上記のいずれかのポリエチレンの混合物を含有してもよい。上記ポリエチレンの混合物は、同種類の、2つ以上のポリエチレン(例えば2つの直鎖状低密度ポリエチレンの混合物)を含有してもよく、あるいは、異なる2つ以上のタイプの、2つ以上のポリエチレン(例えばLLDPEとMDPEの混合物)を含有してもよい。VLDPEは通常、0.88〜0.915g/cm3の範囲の密度であり、エチレンと3〜20の炭素原子数のα−オレフィンとのコモノマーから、メタロセン又はチーグラーナッタ(Z−N)触媒による作用を経て調製されるポリエチレンコポリマーを含有してもよく、当該コモノマー含量は4〜25モル%超である。通常、メタロセン触媒はZ−N触媒と比較し、ポリマーに対して、より均一な分岐及びより高い均質性を付与する。LDPEは通常、0.86若しくは0.87〜0.935の範囲の密度であり、ポリエチレンホモポリマー、エチレンと1つ以上のC3−C20 αオレフィンコモノマーから得たポリエチレンコポリマー、又は上記のいずれかのポリマーの混合物を含有してもよく、上記LDPEはフリーラジカル触媒反応を使用して、高圧下で調製される。LDPEは短鎖分岐及び長鎖分岐を有する。LLDPEは通常、0.86若しくは0.87〜0.93g/cm3の範囲の密度であり、Z−N又はメタロセン触媒反応を用い、エチレン及び1つ以上のC3−C20 αオレフィンコモノマーから調製されたポリエチレンコポリマーを含有してもよく、当該コモノマーの含量は、2.5〜3.5モル%である。LLDPEは短鎖分岐を有する。MDPEは通常、0.925〜0.94g/cm3の範囲の密度であり、Z−N又はメタロセン触媒作用を用い、エチレン及び1つ以上のC3−C20 αオレフィンコモノマーから調製されたポリエチレンコポリマーを含有してもよく、当該コモノマー含量は、1〜2モル%である。本発明の実施態様に係る印刷スキン層(A)は、チーグラーナッタ触媒による作用から得られた低粘性LLDPEと、メタロセン触媒による作用から得られたLLDPEとを含有する。Z−N触媒作用からの低粘性LLDPEは、ASTM Method D 1238(190℃/2.16kg、g/10分)における、3〜40、5〜30又は7〜20のメルトインデックスを有してもよい。上記のポリエチレンは、樹脂の製造業者(例えばDow Chemical社及びExxon−Mobil Chemical社)から入手可能である。有用なZ−Nポリエチレンの具体例としては、Dow社製のDowlex 2517、Huntsman社製のL2101又はL8148(0.9のメルトインデックス)、及びChevron Phillips社製のMarflex 7105 DL(0.5のメルトインデックス)が挙げられる。Dowlex 2517は0.917g/ccの密度及び25g/10分のメルトインデックスを有し、L2101は24g/10分のメルトインデックスを有する。メタロセン触媒による反応から得られるLLDPEの例としては、Exxon−Mobil EXACT 4049(0.873g/cc密度及び4.5g/10分のメルトインデックス)、Dow AFFINITY 8200G(0.870g/ccの密度)及びAFFINITY KC8852(3.0のメルトインデックス)が挙げられる。

を挙げられる。これらの特許文献を、本願明細書に援用する。
コア層は、少なくとも1つのポリプロピレンコポリマー、少なくとも1つのポリプロピレンホモポリマー、並びにチーグラーナッタ触媒又はメタロセン触媒による反応により調製され、0.86若しくは0.87〜0.98g/cm3の密度範囲の、少なくとも1つのポリエチレンを含有する。ポリプロピレンコポリマー及びホモポリマーは、印刷スキン層(A)のセクションにおいて、上記のようにポリプロピレン成分として含有されてもよい。ポリプロピレンコポリマーは、α−オレフィンコモノマー(エチレン及びC4−C20αオレフィンを含む)を1〜7重量%で含有するポリプロピレンランダムコポリマーを含んでなってもよく、当該コポリマーは通常、Z−N触媒により調製される。本発明の他の実施形態では、上記コア層は、ポリプロピレンランダムコポリマー及びポリプロピレンホモポリマーを含有するか、又は核形成されたポリプロピレンランダムコポリマー及びポリプロピレンホモポリマーを含有し、当該ポリプロピレンランダムコポリマーのコモノマーがエチレンである。
粘着スキン層は、不飽和カルボン酸又は不飽和のカルボン酸誘導体によりグラフト化された少なくとも1つのポリオレフィンを含有する。上記ポリオレフィンは、C2−C20アルケンから調製されたポリオレフィンホモポリマー(例えばポリエチレン及びポリプロピレン及びポリイソブチレン)、2つ以上のC2−C20アルケンから調製されたポリオレフィンコポリマー(例えばエチレン−プロピレンコポリマー)、又は上記のいずれかのポリマーの混合物を含有する。上記不飽和カルボン酸又は不飽和のカルボン酸誘導体は、少なくとも1つの炭素=炭素二重結合、及びカルボン酸基を含有する、いかなる有機化合物、又はそのエステル及び無水物などの誘導体であってもよい。上記不飽和カルボン酸又は不飽和のカルボン酸誘導体としては、例えばマレイン酸、フマル酸、イタコン酸、アクリル酸、アクリル酸メチル又は無水マレイン酸などが挙げられる。ポリオレフィンは、フリーラジカル反応、180℃以上の高温における熱反応、又は米国特許第6300419号に記載の押出加工反応装置を介して、不飽和カルボン酸又はその誘導体によりグラフト化されてもよい。上記ポリオレフィン中のグラフト化されたカルボン酸又は酸誘導体の含量は、0.1〜10重量%であってもよい。本発明の実施形態では、上記粘着スキン層は、無水マレイン酸をグラフト化したポリプロピレンを含有する。上記グラフト化されたポリオレフィンは、Equistar社やDuPont社などの供給業者から購入できる。有用なグラフト化ポリオレフィンの具体例としては、Mitsui社製のAdmer QF551A(5.0のメルトフローインデックス)、Equistar社製のPlexar PX6006(4.0のメルトフローインデックス)、及びDupont社製のBynel 50E561(4のメルトフローインデックス)が挙げられる。
本発明のフィルム中のコア層(B)が、再利用されたフィルムを更に有する実施形態では、本発明のフィルムは更に、少なくとも1つのポリプロピレンコポリマーと、少なくとも1つのポリプロピレンホモポリマーと、チーグラーナッタ触媒又はメタロセン触媒による反応により調製され、0.86〜0.98g/cm3の密度範囲の少なくとも1つのポリエチレンを含有するタイ層(D)を有する。一実施形態では、上記タイ層は、再利用されたフィルムを含まない以外は、上記のコア層と同じ組成を有する。上記タイ層を存在させることにより、剛性、抗張力及び良好なダイカット性能が得られる。
本発明の多層高分子フィルムの層は、直線形若しくは環形の型から層を押出すステップ、直線形若しくは環形の型から2枚以上の層を共押出するステップ、上記で形成された2枚以上の層を積層するステップ、又は、上記のステップの任意の組合せにより調製できる。本発明の一実施形態では、上記フィルムは、直線形の型からの共押出により調製する。
以下に非限定的な実施例を示すことにより、本発明の若干の実施態様を更に詳細に説明する。
サイズを安定させるために、共押出、縦方向への位置合わせ及びアニーリングを行い、2.5mil(63.5μm)フィルムを調製した。印刷スキン層(A)は、フィルム厚の4%を占め、重量ベースで、Z−N LLDPE Dowlex 2517を47%、メタロセンLLDPE EXACT 4049を28%、核形成されたポリプロピレンホモポリマーP4G4K−173Xを21%、及び粘着防止剤の濃縮物であるAmpacet 401960を5%含有する。
サイズを安定させるために、共押出、縦方向への位置合わせ及びアニーリングを行い、2.5mil(63.5μm)フィルムを調製した。印刷スキン層(A)は、フィルム厚の4%を占め、重量ベースで、Huntsman L2101を46%、メタロセンLLDPE AFFINITY 8200Gを28%、有核ポリプロピレンホモポリマーDow H7010−12NAを21%、及び粘着防止剤の濃縮物であるAmpacet 401960を5%含有する。
サイズを安定させるために、共押出、縦方向への位置合わせ及びアニーリングを行い、2.5mil(63.5μm)フィルムを調製した。印刷スキン層(A)は、フィルム厚の4%を占め、重量ベースで、Dowlex 2517を47%、EXACT 4049を27%、核形成されたポリプロピレンホモポリマーP4G4K−173Xを21%、及び粘着防止剤の濃縮物であるAmpacet 401960を5%含有する。

本発明はまた、層(A)、(B)及び(C)か、又は層(A)、(D)、(B)及び(C)と、上面及び下面を有する接着層(E)とを有する本発明のフィルムを有してなる、接着剤含有ラベルストックの提供に関する。ここで、当該接着層の上面は、上記フィルムの粘着スキン層(C)の下面に、粘着結合している。
本発明の幾つかの実施形態では、接着剤含有ラベルストックは、層(A)、(B)及び(C)か、又は(A)、(D)、(B)及び(C)と、接着層(E)と、剥離ライナー(F)とを有する本発明のフィルムを有してなり、当該剥離ライナーは、接着層(E)の下面に着脱可能に配置される。上記剥離ライナーは、単層若しくは多層フィルムであってもよく、上記ライナーのフィルムは、紙フィルム、高分子フィルム(例えばポリオレフィンフィルム)又は上記のいずれかのフィルムの混合物を有してもよい。上記剥離ライナーは通常、剥離ライナーのフィルム上に剥離コーティング(例えばオルガノシロキサンポリマー)が施されている。オルガノシロキサンポリマーはまたシリコーンとして公知であり、それを用いることにより、ラベリング工程の間、剥離ライナーを接着層から除去することが可能となる。本発明の実施形態では、上記剥離ライナーは、粘着スキン層の下面に付着させ、それにより接着層に接着剤を移転させる。本願明細書に記載されている本発明の多層フィルムを、接着剤含有ライナーと結合させるときは、接着層を多層フィルムの下面に取り付ける。その後、上記のライナー又はキャリアを取り除いて接着剤を露出させたときも、当該接着剤は粘着スキン層に付着したままである。
本発明の高分子フィルムは、物品への圧感接着剤を用いたラベリングに使用できる、多層フィルムを有してなる。上記物品は、ボトル、ジャグ、ジャー又はドラムなどの、いかなる形状の容器であってもよい。上記物品は、紙、ボール紙、ガラス、金属、プラスチック又はその混合物から作製されていてもよい。上記物品は、最終消費者用の、又は工業用の製品の包装に使用するいかなる形状の容器であってもよい。上記高分子フィルムは通常、接着剤含有ラベルストックに加工され、更に物品へのラベリング用の粘着ラベルとして用いられる。
Claims (25)
- 物品のラベリング用の高分子フィルムであって、
(A) 上面及び下面を有し、0.94g/cm3以下の密度の少なくとも一種類のポリエチレンと、少なくとも一種類のポリプロピレンを含有する印刷スキン層と、
(B) 上面及び下面を有し、少なくとも一種類のポリプロピレンコポリマーと、少なくとも一種類のポリプロピレンホモポリマーと、チーグラーナッタ又はメタロセン触媒によって調製される少なくとも一種類のポリエチレンを含有し、0.86〜0.98g/cm3の範囲の密度を有するコア層と、
(C) 上面及び下面を有し、不飽和カルボン酸又は不飽和カルボン酸誘導体によってグラフト化された少なくとも一種類のポリオレフィンを含有する粘着スキン層と、
を備え、前記印刷スキン層(A)の下面が前記コア層(B)の上面上に存在し、前記粘着スキン層(C)の上面が前記コア層(B)の下面上に存在してなる、高分子フィルム。 - 前記コア層(B)中の少なくとも一種類のポリエチレンが、0.870〜0.98g/cm3の密度を有する、請求項1記載の高分子フィルム。
- 前記粘着スキン層(C)が更に、少なくとも一種類のプロピレンホモポリマーを含有する、請求項1記載の高分子フィルム。
- 前記粘着スキン層が、約10〜約90重量%の、不飽和カルボン酸又は不飽和カルボン酸誘導体でグラフト化された少なくとも一種類のポリオレフィンと、約10〜約90重量%の少なくとも一種類のプロピレンホモポリマーを含有する、請求項1記載の高分子フィルム。
- 不飽和カルボン酸でグラフト化された前記ポリオレフィンが、無水マレイン酸でグラフト化されたポリプロピレンである、請求項4記載の高分子フィルム。
- 層(A)、(B)及び(C)の共押出により調製される、請求項1記載の高分子フィルム。
- 延伸されている、請求項1記載の高分子フィルム。
- 縦方向に一軸で延伸されている、請求項7記載の高分子フィルム。
- 前記印刷スキン層(A)が、少なくとも一種類の直鎖状低密度ポリエチレンと、少なくとも一種類のポリプロピレンホモポリマーを含有する、請求項1記載の高分子フィルム。
- 前記コア層(B)のポリエチレンが、少なくとも一種類の直鎖状低密度ポリエチレンを含有する、請求項1記載の高分子フィルム。
- 前記印刷スキン層(A)が、重量ベースで、約60%〜約90%の少なくとも一種類のポリエチレンと、約10%〜約40%の少なくとも一種類のポリプロピレンを含有する、請求項1記載の高分子フィルム。
- 前記印刷スキン層(A)が、重量ベースで、約60%〜約90%の少なくとも一種類の直鎖状低密度ポリエチレンと、約10〜約40%の少なくとも一種類のプロピレンホモポリマーを含有する、請求項1記載の高分子フィルム。
- 前記印刷スキン層が更に、約1〜約10%の少なくとも一種類の粘着防止剤を含有する、請求項1記載の高分子フィルム。
- 前記コア層が、約50%〜約85%の少なくとも一種類のプロピレンコポリマーと、約5%〜約25%の少なくとも一種類のプロピレンホモポリマーと、約5%〜約25%の少なくとも一種類のポリエチレンを含有する、請求項1記載の高分子フィルム。
- 前記コア層が、重量ベースで約50〜約85%のポリプロピレンコポリマーと、約5〜約25%のポリプロピレンホモポリマーと、約5〜約25%の直鎖状低密度ポリエチレンを含有する、請求項2記載の高分子フィルム。
- 前記粘着スキン層(C)が、無水マレイン酸でグラフト化されたポリプロピレンを含有する、請求項1記載の高分子フィルム。
- (D) 上面及び下面を有し、少なくとも一種類のポリプロピレンコポリマーと、少なくとも一種類のポリプロピレンホモポリマーと、チーグラーナッタ触媒又はメタロセン触媒によって調製され、0.086〜0.98g/cm3の範囲の密度を有する少なくとも一種類のポリエチレンを含有するタイ層を更に備えており、
前記タイ層の上面が前記印刷スキン層(A)の下面と接触し、前記タイ層の下面がコア層(B)の上面と接触し、前記コア層(B)がリサイクルされたフィルムを更に含有してなる、請求項1記載の高分子フィルム。 - 前記タイ層中のポリエチレンの密度が、0.870〜0.98g/cm3である、請求項17記載の高分子フィルム。
