Abstract
Description
発明の分野
本発明は、一般的にはポリ塩化ビニル配管などの導管又は配管部分を融着又は接続する方法に関し、特に、第1導管部分と第2導管部分とを効果的かつ恒久的に接続するための融着方法に関する。
導管システムは、水その他の流体などの物質を、システム全体に分布するべくある場所から別の場所に移送又は輸送するために世界中で多くの用途に使用されている。例えば、広範囲の導管システムが、家庭用及び業務用に水を配送してその使用及び付加処理に供するために使用されている。通常、そのような導管又は配管システムは、地上に配管すれば見苦しくかつ邪魔になることから、地中に設けられる。
従って、本発明の目的は、従来技術の欠点を克服するPVC導管のための融着方法を提供することにある。本発明の別の目的は、PVC導管の複数の長手部分を現場で接続することを可能にする、PVC導管のための融着方法を提供することにある。本発明の更に別の課題は、元の導管の強度に等しい強度で、かつ、接続領域の直径を元の導管の直径以上に増大させることのない、PVC導管のための融着方法を提供することにある。本発明の更に別の課題は、機械的な継手の無い単一の出発部材を提供し、そのような継手を介した侵入が無いようにすることにある。本発明の更に別の課題は、加圧導管システムにおけるその後の膨張及び使用が可能な継手を製造する、PVCのための融着方法を提供することにある。本発明の更に別の課題は、一貫した品質および高強度特性を有する継手を形成する、PVC用の融着方法を提供することにある。本発明の更に別の課題は、スリップライニング用途、水平方向掘削用途、管破裂用途、及び直接埋設用途において、融着管及び継手とともに有効に使用することが可能な、融着方法及び装置を提供することにある。
図1は本発明による導管の融着処理のための方法の略図、

図3は図1の導管の融着処理から得られる融着結合領域の側方断面図、そして
図4〜図9は図1に記載のPVC導管のための融着処理の界面圧約140psiにおける最適操作パラメータを記載したチャートであって、公称管直径、外側管直径、内側管直径、表面積、ゲージ圧および/又は寸法比の各具体量を示す図、である。
好適実施形態の説明
以下の説明目的では、「上」、「下」、「右」、「左」、「垂直」、「水平」、「頂部」、「底部」、「側方」、「長手」及びこれらの派生語は、図中における向きの通りに本発明に関連するものとする。ただし本発明は、特に異なる明記がない限りは、種々の他の変形例及び工程順序も可能と理解されるべきである。又、添付図面に示されるとともに以下の詳細説明に記載されている具体的な装置及び方法は、本発明の例示的な実施形態に過ぎないと理解されるべきである。従って、ここに開示されている実施形態に関する特定の寸法その他の物理的特性は限定的なものと解釈すべきではない。
第1導管部分10の端縁18を第2導管部分12の端縁20に対して取り外し可能に対向配置する工程(工程100)、
第1導管部分10の端縁18と第2導管部分12の端縁20とを面削りする工程(工程120)、
第1導管部分10の端縁18を第2導管部分12の端縁20に対して位置合わせする工程(工程130)、
第1導管部分10の端縁18と第2導管部分12の端縁20のうち少なくとも一部を溶融する工程(工程140)、
第1導管部分10の溶融端縁を第2導管部分12の溶融端縁に接当する工程(工程150)、及び
第1導管部分10の接当端縁18と第2導管部分12の端縁20との間の圧力を維持することによって、融着接合領域22を形成する工程(工程160)、とを含む。
一好適・非限定的実施形態においては、この方法は更に、融着接合領域22の周りに延成された外側ビード(bead)24のうち少なくとも一部を除去する工程(工程170)を含む。
この方法は、以下に詳述する融着装置14によって行われる。

Claims (32)
- 第1導管部分を第2導管部分に融着する方法であって、
(a)前記第1導管部分の第1端縁を前記第2導管部分の第1端縁に対して取り外し可能に対向配置する工程、
(b)前記第1導管部分の第1端縁と前記第2導管部分の第1端縁とを面削りする工程、
(c)前記第1導管部分の第1端縁を前記第2導管部分の第1端縁と位置合わせする工程、
(d)前記第1導管部分の第1端縁と前記第2導管部分の第1端縁のうち少なくとも一部を溶融する工程、
(e)前記第1導管部分の溶融端縁を前記第2導管部分の溶融端縁と接当させる工程、及び
(f)前記第1導管部分の接当端縁と前記第2導管部分の端縁との間の圧力を維持することによって、融着結合領域を形成する工程、
を備え、かつ
前記第1導管部分と前記第2導管部分のうち少なくとも一方がポリ塩化ビニルを含む方法。 - 請求項1に記載の方法であって、更に、前記融着結合領域の周りに延成された外側ビード(bead)のうち少なくとも一部を除去する工程を含む方法。
- 請求項1に記載の方法であって、更に、前記融着結合領域の周りに延成された内側ビードのうち少なくとも一部を除去する工程を含む方法。
- 請求項1に記載の方法であって、更に以下の工程を含む方法、
前記第1導管部分の第2端縁を後続導管部分の第1端縁に対して取り外し可能に対向配置する工程、
前記第1導管部分の第2端縁と前記後続導管部分の第1端縁とを面削りする工程、
前記第1導管部分の第2端縁を前記後続導管部分の第1端縁と位置合わせする工程、
前記第1導管部分の第2端縁と前記後続導管部分の第1端縁のうち少なくとも一部を溶融する工程、
前記第1導管部分の溶融端縁を前記後続導管部分の溶融端縁と接当させる工程、及び
前記第1導管部分の接当端縁と前記後続導管部分の端縁との間の圧力を維持することによって、融着結合領域を形成する工程。 - 請求項1に記載の方法であって、更に以下の工程を含む方法、
前記第2導管部分の第2端縁を後続導管部分の第1端縁に対して取り外し可能に対向配置する工程、
前記第2導管部分の前記第2端縁と前記後続導管部分の第1端縁とを面削りする工程、
前記第2導管部分の前記第2端縁を前記後続導管部分の第1端縁と位置合わせする工程、
前記第2導管部分の前記第2端縁と前記後続導管部分の第1端縁のうち少なくとも一部を溶融する工程、
前記第2導管部分の溶融端縁を前記後続導管部分の溶融端縁と接当させる工程、及び
前記第2導管部分の接当端縁と前記後続導管部分の端縁との間の圧力を維持することによって、融着結合領域を形成する工程。 - 請求項1に記載の方法であって、前記面削り工程は、第1導管部分と第2導管部分の中心線に対して垂直な、実質的に直角(square)な面を提供する方法。
- 請求項1に記載の方法であって、前記位置合わせ工程は、前記第1導管部分の外径を前記第2導管部分の外径と位置合わせすることを含む方法。
- 請求項1に記載の方法であって、前記溶融工程は、前記第1導管部分の端縁と前記第2導管部分の端縁とを同時に加熱することを含む方法。
- 請求項1に記載の方法を実施することが可能な融着装置。
- 請求項13に記載の融着装置であって、実質的にモバイル式であり現場位置へと移動可能に構成されている融着装置。
- 第1導管部分を第2導管部分に融着させるための融着装置であって、
前記第1導管部分に接当し、これを位置決めする第1クランプ機構、
前記第2導管部分に接当し、これを位置決めする第2クランプ機構、
前記第1クランプ機構と前記第2クランプ機構のうち少なくとも一方と連動して前記第1クランプ機構と前記第2クランプ機構のうち少なくとも一方を実質的に長手方向に駆動可能な駆動機構、
前記第1導管部分の端面と前記第2導管部分の端面との間に配置され、前記第1導管部分の端縁と前記第2導管部分の端縁のうち少なくとも一方を面削りするように構成された面削り機構、及び
前記第1導管部分の端縁と前記第2導管部分の端縁のうち少なくとも一方を溶融するように構成された加熱機構、
を備え、かつ
前記第1導管部分と前記第2導管部分のうち少なくとも一方がポリ塩化ビニルを含む融着装置。 - 請求項15に記載の融着装置であって、前記第1クランプ機構と前記第2クランプ機構のうち少なくとも一方は移動可能である融着装置。
- 請求項15に記載の融着装置であって、前記加熱機構は移動可能である融着装置。
- 請求項15に記載の融着装置であって、前記加熱機構は以下のうち少なくとも1つを含む融着装置、
(i)加熱プレート、
(ii)複数の加熱プレート、又は
(iii)両面加熱プレート。 - 請求項15に記載の融着装置であって、更に、下記(i)又は(ii)のうち少なくとも一方を行うように構成された制御機構を有する融着装置、
(i)前記第1クランプ機構、前記第2クランプ機構、前記駆動機構、前記面削り機構、前記加熱機構、又は、少なくとも1つの測定装置のうち少なくとも1つとの通信、及びその制御、
(ii)当該融着装置の少なくとも1つの構成要素からのデータ信号の受信及びそのデータ信号の処理。 - 請求項19に記載の融着装置であって、前記制御機構は、前記加熱機構の表面において特定の温度を維持するように構成されている融着装置。
- 請求項19に記載の融着装置であって、前記制御機構は、少なくとも1つの測定装置からアナログ入力又はデジタル入力のいずれかを通信、受信し、前記加熱機構の加熱温度に関する手動制御、アナログ制御又はデジタル制御のいずれかを提供するように構成されている融着装置。
- 請求項1に記載の融着装置であって、前記加熱機構は、該加熱機構の表面上に配置された複数の加熱ゾーンを含み、これら複数の加熱ゾーンのそれぞれが、異なる温度を示すことによってゾーン加熱を提供することが可能である融着装置。
- 請求項22に記載の融着装置であって、前記加熱機構の前記表面は上方加熱ゾーンと下方加熱ゾーンとを含む融着装置。
- 請求項22に記載の融着装置であって、前記複数の加熱ゾーンのうち少なくとも1つは、制御機構と通信し、それによって制御可能である融着装置。
- 請求項24に記載の融着装置であって、前記制御機構は、前記複数の加熱ゾーンのうち少なくとも1つに対する手動制御、アナログ制御又はデジタル制御のうち少なくとも1つを提供する融着装置。
- 請求項15に記載の融着装置であって、更に、前記第1クランプ機構、前記第2クランプ機構、前記駆動機構、前記面削り機構又は前記加熱機構のうち少なくとも1つと通信する、少なくとも1つの測定装置を含む融着装置。
- 請求項26に記載の融着装置であって、前記測定装置は、前記加熱機構の加熱表面を測定するように構成されている融着装置。
- 請求項27に記載の融着装置であって、前記測定装置は、温度計とパイロメータのうち少なくとも一方である融着装置。
- 請求項15に記載の融着装置であって、実質的にモバイル式であり現場位置へと移動可能に構成されている融着装置。
- 請求項15に記載の融着装置であって、前記面削り機構は、少なくとも1つのブレード部分を有する融着装置。
- 請求項30に記載の融着装置であって、前記少なくとも1つのブレード部分は、刃先が超硬合金の(carbide-tipped)ブレード部材である融着装置。
- 第1導管部分を第2導管部分に対して融着するための融着装置であって、
前記第1導管部分の第1端縁を前記第2導管部分の第1端縁に対して取り外し可能に対向配置する手段、
前記第1導管部分の第1端縁と前記第2導管部分の第1端縁とを面削りする手段、
前記第1導管部分の第1端縁を前記第2導管部分の第1端縁に対して位置合わせする手段、
前記第1導管部分の第1端縁と前記第2導管部分の第1端縁のうち少なくとも一部を溶融する手段、
前記第1導管部分の溶融端縁を前記第2導管部分の溶融端縁に接当する手段、及び
前記第1導管部分の接当端縁と前記第2導管部分の端縁との間の圧力を維持することによって融着接合領域を形成する手段、
を備え、かつ
前記第1導管部分と前記第2導管部分のうち少なくとも一方がポリマー塩化ビニル材を含む融着装置。
