Abstract
【解決手段】スパークプラグ100は、主体金具1と、絶縁体2と、中心電極3と、接地電極4とを備えている。接地電極4は、主体金具1の先端面に対しその基端面が溶接されており、長手方向中間位置の屈曲部5において中心方向へ屈曲させられている。接地電極4は、直径1.3mmの断面円形状をなしており、混合気が接地電極4の背面に直接当たるような位置関係になった場合であっても、混合気が接地電極4の内側に廻り込んで、火花放電間隙に到達しやすいようになっている。火花放電間隙の軸線方向の中心点から±1mmの範囲(領域β)内における接地電極4の幅の最大値dmaxが、接地電極4の一般部の幅d0の105%以下となっており、拡幅による混合気の流入阻害が抑制される。

前記中心電極の先端部及び前記接地電極の先端部間に火花放電間隙を有する内燃機関用スパークプラグであって、
前記接地電極は、前記中心電極側とは反対側の背面に凸状の湾曲面を有しており、かつ、前記中心電極と前記接地電極とが重なる方向にみたときに、前記火花放電間隙の前記軸線方向における中心点から±1mmの範囲内の前記接地電極の幅の最大値が、当該最大値を有する部位を除いた略一定の幅を有する一般部の幅に対して105%以下であることを特徴とする。
Claims (7)
- 軸線方向に延びる棒状の中心電極と、
前記中心電極の外周に設けられた略円筒状の絶縁体と、
前記絶縁体の外周に設けられた筒状の主体金具と、
基端部が前記主体金具の先端部に接合されるとともに、先端部が前記中心電極の先端面と対向するように、自身の中腹を屈曲させた屈曲部を有する接地電極とを備え、
前記中心電極の先端部及び前記接地電極の先端部間に火花放電間隙を有する内燃機関用スパークプラグであって、
前記接地電極は、前記中心電極側とは反対側の背面に凸状の湾曲面を有しており、かつ、前記中心電極と前記接地電極とが重なる方向にみたときに、前記火花放電間隙の前記軸線方向における中心点から±1mmの範囲内の前記接地電極の幅の最大値が、当該最大値を有する部位を除いた略一定の幅を有する一般部の幅に対して105%以下であることを特徴とする内燃機関用スパークプラグ。 - 前記接地電極の幅が最大値を有する部位の幅は、前記一般部の幅に対して101%以上であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の内燃機関用スパークプラグ。
- 前記接地電極の一般部の幅に対する厚さが、0.5以上であることを特徴とする請求項1又は2に記載の内燃機関用スパークプラグ。
- 前記接地電極の幅が最大値を有する部位の硬度が、前記一般部の硬度に対して140%以上170%以下であることを特徴とする請求項1乃至3のいずれかに記載の内燃機関用スパークプラグ。
- 前記接地電極の前記一般部の背面の湾曲部が曲率半径0.5mm以上1.3mm以下であることを特徴とする請求項1乃至4のいずれかに記載の内燃機関用スパークプラグ。
- 前記接地電極は、外層及び当該外層よりも良熱伝導性金属よりなる内層を備え、前記一般部の断面において、その断面積に対する前記内層の断面積の比率が25%以上60%以下であることを特徴とする請求項1乃至5のいずれかに記載の内燃機関用スパークプラグ。
- 前記接地電極は、前記火花放電間隙の前記軸線方向における中心点から±1mmの前記範囲外において、少なくとも1つの屈曲部を有することを特徴とする請求項1乃至6のいずれかに記載の内燃機関用スパークプラグ。
