Abstract
【解決手段】 リード取り出し辺を熱融着する際に、ラミネートフィルムの端部を避けてヒータヘッドによる加圧、熱融着を行い、ラミネートフィルム端部の厚さが熱融着部の厚さより厚くなるようして電池を作製する。また、リードを挟む熱溶着部の厚さがリードを挟まない熱溶着部の厚さよりも厚くなるようにして熱溶着を行うことにより、さらにショートを起こりにくくすることができる。

Description
正極41は、正極活物質を含有する正極活物質層が、正極集電体の両面上に形成されてなる。正極集電体としては、例えばAl箔,ニッケル(Ni)箔あるいはステンレス箔などの金属箔により構成されている。
負極42は、負極活物質を含有する負極活物質層が、負極集電体の両面上に形成されてなる。負極集電体としては、例えば銅箔,Ni箔あるいはステンレス箔などの金属箔により構成されている。
電解質は、リチウムイオン電池に一般的に使用される電解質塩と有機溶媒が使用可能であり、またゲル状電解質であっても電解液であってもよい。
セパレータは、例えばポリプロピレンあるいはポリエチレンなどのポリオレフィン系の材料よりなる多孔質膜、またはセラミック製の不織布などの無機材料よりなる多孔質膜により構成されており、これら2種以上の多孔質膜を積層した構造とされていてもよい。中でも、ポリエチレン、ポリプロピレンの多孔質フィルムが最も有効である。

電池をフィルムで外装する際のリードを挟まない熱融着部分の厚さt3が、

であることを特徴とする。
コバルト酸リチウム(LiCoO2)92重量%と、粉状ポリフッ化ビニリデン3重量%と、粉状黒鉛5重量%とを均一に混合し、これをN−メチルピロリドンに分散させてスラリー状の正極合剤を調製した。この正極合剤を正極集電体となるAl箔の両面に均一に塗布し、100℃で24時間減圧乾燥することにより正極活物質層を形成した。
人造黒鉛91重量%と、粉状ポリフッ化ビニリデン9重量%とを均一に混合し、N−メチルピロリドンに分散させてスラリー状の負極合剤を調製した。次に、この負極合剤を負極集電体となる銅箔の両面に均一に塗布し、120℃で24時間減圧乾燥することにより負極活物質層を形成した。
ヘキサフルオロプロピレンが6.9%の割合で共重合されたポリフッ化ビニリデンと、非水電解液と、希釈溶剤のジメチルカーボネート(DMC)とを混合し、撹拌、溶解させてゾル状の電解質溶液を得た。電解液にはエチレンカーボネート、プロピレンカーボネートを6:4の重量比で混合し、0.8mol/kgのLiPF6と0.2mol/kgのLiBF4を溶解して作成した。混合比は,ポリフッ化ビニリデン:電解液:DMC=1:6:12の重量比とした。次いで、得られたゾル状の電解質溶液を正極及び負極の両面に均一に塗布した。その後、50℃で3分間乾燥させて溶剤を除去して、正極及び負極の両面にゲル状電解質層を形成した。
上述のようにして作製された、両面にゲル状電解質層が形成された帯状の正極と、両面にゲル状電解質層が形成された帯状の負極とを、セパレータを介して長手方向に巻回することにより電池素子を得た。セパレータには厚さ10μm、空孔率33%の多孔質ポリエチレンフィルムを用いた。
実施例1−1〜1−3および比較例1−1〜1−7の各電池を、ヒータヘッド幅を変えて作製し、ヒータヘッドの温度および熱融着時の圧力をそれぞれ変え、熱融着部の厚さt1およびラミネートフィルム端部の厚さt2が変わるようにした。実施例の各電池は2.0mm幅のヒータヘッド、比較例の各電池は3.0mm幅のヒータヘッドを用い、各電池の外装には、最外層からナイロン層15μm、接着層3μm、アルミ層35μm、接着層2μm、CPP層30μmであり、厚さ85μmであるアルミラミネートフィルムを用いた。また、リードには幅4mm、厚さ70μmのAlリボンを用い、アルミラミネートフィルムに挟まれる部分には、幅6mm、厚さ50μmのポリプロピレン片を両面に接着した。
t×2−p×2+5 < t1 < t×2−5 [μm]
ラミネートフィルム端部の厚さt2が、
t1 < t×2 ≦ t2 [μm]
を満たす関係にあれば、バリによるショートおよびヒータヘッドの加圧によるラミネートフィルムAl層とリードのショート、ならびに水分浸入によるガス発生を防ぐことができる。したがって、今回用いたラミネートフィルムの場合、115μm<t1<165μm、かつt2≧170μmであれば実用に耐えうる電池を得ることができる。
電池素子を外装するラミネートフィルムの構成、熱融着時のヒータヘッドの温度および圧力をそれぞれ変えることにより、熱融着部の厚さt3およびリード部の厚さt4を変えて試験用電池を作製した。外装に用いるラミネートフィルムには、最外層のナイロン層15μm、接着剤層3μm、アルミ箔35μm、接着剤層2μm、CPP層30μmの総厚85μmのアルミラミネートフィルム、もしくは上述のラミネートフィルムのうちCPP層のみを20μmとした(ナイロン層15μm、接着剤層3μm、アルミ箔35μm、接着剤層2μm、CPP層20μm)総厚75μmのアルミラミネートフィルムのいずれかを用いた。また、リード取り出し辺の熱融着時には2.0mm幅のヒータヘッドを用い、余熱で接着された部分も含めて2.2mmのシール幅とした。
電池をフィルムで外装する際のリードを挟まない熱融着部分の厚さt3が、
t×2−p×2+5 < t3 < t×2−5 [μm]
であり、リードを挟む熱融着部分の厚さt4が、
t×2−p×2+5+(L+S) < t4 < t×2−5+(L+S) [μm]
を満たす関係にあれば、バリによるショートおよびヒータヘッドでの加圧によるラミネートフィルムAl層とリードのショート、ならびに水分浸入によるガス発生を防ぐことができる。したがって、各実施例および比較例は以下の範囲とすることで実用に耐えうる電池を得ることができる。
(2)総厚75μmのラミネートフィルムおよびリード厚70μm、シーラント厚(片面)50μmの場合(実施例2−13、2−14および比較例2−9〜2−12)は、115μm<t3<145μm、235μm<t4<265μm。
(3)総厚85μmのラミネートフィルムおよびリード厚100μm、シーラント厚(片面)60μmの場合(実施例2−15、2−16および比較例2−13〜2−16)は、115μm<t3<165μm、275μm<t4<325μm。

Claims (4)
- 帯状の金属箔の両面に反応層が設けられた正極および負極、ならびに電解質を有する電池素子を、金属層の外面および内面が樹脂層で挟まれてなるラミネートフィルムで外装し、上記電池素子と電気的に接続された電極端子をラミネートフィルムの開口部から導出し、開口部を熱融着することにより封止した電池であって、
開口部の熱融着はラミネートフィルム端部を除いてなされ、
ラミネートフィルム端部の厚さt2が、熱融着部の厚さt1よりも厚いことを特徴とする電池。 - ラミネートフィルムの厚さをt、上記ラミネートフィルムの内面樹脂層の厚さをpとすると、
熱融着部の厚さt1は、t×2−p×2+5<t1<t×2−5(μm)であり、
熱融着部の厚さt1およびラミネートフィルム端部の厚さt2は、t1<t×2≦t2(μm)を満たすことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の電池。 - 帯状の金属箔の両面に反応層が設けられた正極および負極、ならびに電解質を有する電池素子を、金属層の外面および内面が樹脂層で挟まれてなるラミネートフィルムで外装し、上記電池素子と電気的に接続された電極端子をラミネートフィルムの開口部から導出し、開口部を熱融着することにより封止した電池であって、
リードを挟む熱融着部分の厚さt4が、リードを挟まない熱融着部分の厚さt3よりも厚いことを特徴とする電池。 - ラミネートフィルムの厚さをt、上記ラミネートフィルムの内面樹脂層の厚さをp、リードの厚さをL、リードを被覆する樹脂材料の片面の厚さをSとすると、
上記内面樹脂層は20<p<40であり、
リードを挟まない熱融着部分の厚さt3は、t×2−p×2+5<t3<t×2−5(μm)であり、
リードを挟む熱融着部分の厚さt4は、t×2−p×2+5+(L+S)<t4<t×2−5+(L+S)(μm)であることを特徴とする請求項3に記載の電池。
