本発明は、被験者のモニタリングに関し、特に、測定又は入力された健康状態データが、ワイヤレスデバイスにより、インターネット接続サーバ上で実行されるソフトウェアアプリケーションとの間で送受信され、前記データを、このソフトウェアアプリケーション、医療
従事者、又は被験者により検討及び処理することが可能な、人間の健康状態モニタリングに関する。
医療又は健康情報の効率的な対話型通信を、被験者又は患者とこうした情報の検討者又は提供者との間で達成するために、過去にいくつかの試みがなされてきた。特に、消費者向け生理学情報の通信は、こうした試みの対象となってきた。なお、「医療又は健康情報の検討者又は提供者」には、この点において、医師だけでなく、この情報を分析可能なソフトウェアアプリケーション又はアルゴリズムが含まれると理解される。
こうした先行特許は、パーソナルコンピュータに基づくシステムよりも使用が簡単なシステムを達成するために、テレビゲームコンソール、或いはディスプレイデバイスとして従来のテレビ画面を使用するマルチメディアプレイヤに基づいていた。先行特許の初期実施形態では、疾病管理に関する対話型情報を提供するために、コンパクトディスクを利用した。
この欠点を改善するために、試みがなされてきた。例えば、多くのテレメトリシステムにより、健康状態測定ユニットとリモートモニタリングシステムとの間に「ワイヤレス」距離を置くことが可能である。しかしながら、こうしたシステムは、その範囲が限られている。
本発明の実施形態は、インターネットを介してバックエンドサーバアプリケーションとワイヤレスで接続することが可能な機能完備の健康状態モニタリングを提供することで、従来技術の一つ以上の欠点を克服する。本発明により、広範な現在の医療又は健康関連機器及びデバイスとのワイヤレスアクセスのやり取りが可能となり、同時に、将来的なこうしたデバイスとの接続能力が維持される。

ワイヤレスアプリケーションは、それぞれのプログラム命令に応じて、サーバ及びサーバアプリケーションにアクセス可能であり、或いはその逆も同様である。次に、(1)疾病及び患者管理のシステム及び(2)エクササイズマシンを利用した健康状態管理に関するシステムの例について説明する。
図5を参照すると、疾病及び患者管理のシステムに関する例が示されている。この図、及び図6において、波線のボックスは、一般に、オプションとみなすことができる。
図5において、医療デバイスは、健康状態パラメータを決定することが可能であり、オプションである医師による検討が提供される。健康状態パラメータは、ユーザの手動入力により決定することもできる。
前に述べたように、センサは、任意のタイプの医療デバイス、或いは患者の疾病又は状態に関する情報を確認できる他のこうしたデバイスに接続することができる。パラメータは、こうした情報に対応する任意の値にすることができる。
図6を参照すると、健康状態、栄養、及び又は運動管理のシステムに関する例が示されている。この例において、HMDは、上で用語の定義を行ったエクササイズマシンである。
プログラムが開始され(ステップ242)、センサは、健康状態パラメータを測定し(ステップ216)、この健康状態パラメータは、健康状態、フィットネス、栄養、運動、及びその他に対応する。このセンサは、パラメータをエクササイズマシンに送信することができる(ステップ218)。ここで、「センサ」は、例えば血圧モニタにすることが可能だが、走った距離、実行した仕事量、及びその他を追跡する有酸素運動用具に接続される単純なデバイスにすることも可能であると理解される。
パラメータを入力する代替又は相補的方法は、ユーザの入力によるものである(ステップ248)。例えば、ユーザは、エクササイズマシン又はWWDに、このパラメータを入力することができる。このパラメータは、事項した運動の量、摂取した食べ物の量、及びその他に対応させることができる。
このアプリケーションサーバによる計算では、ユーザにより、例えばインターネットを通じて有線形式で直接サーバに送信された補足データを更に考慮することができる(ステップ241)。
随意的なステップとして、医療従事者は、自分のクライアントコンピュータに応答が表示された後(ステップ236)、この応答を患者又は被験者に通知することができる(ステップ238)。この例において、医療従事者は、アルゴリズムを更に含むことが可能なアプリケーションに置き換えることができる。
特定のタイプのアダプタハードウェアに関する説明を以下に述べる。前に述べたように、このアダプタは、HMDをWWDに接続するために、随意的に使用することができる。
一般に、HMD11とWWDとの間では、接続が必要となる。この接続の性質は、変化させることができる。例えば、この接続は、有線又はワイヤレスにすることができる。有線システムに関して、この接続は、直接接続にすることが可能であり、或いは、信号を適切に合わせるために、直接有線接続の一方又は両方の端部において、アダプタを利用することができる。同じように、ワイヤレスシステムに関して、この接続は、HMDとWWDとの両方が同じワイヤレスプロトコルを利湯尾する場合、直接接続にすることが可能であり、或いは、一方又は両方のデバイスの信号を修正するために、アダプタを関与させることができる。こうした接続は、そのすべてが本発明に包含され、下で更に詳細に説明される。

図8を参照すると、WHMA10のワイヤレス実施の実施形態が表示されている。図8において、HMD160とWWD162との間に、ワイヤレス接続が表示されている。HMD160は、内部に配置された一体型ワイヤレス変調装置/復調装置を有することができる(表示なし)。しかしながら、多くの場合は、HMD160は、こうした機能を実行する接続可能なアダプタ154を有する。アダプタ154は、HMD150のコネクタ165に差し込むことができる。WWD162は、一体型ワイヤレス変調装置/復調装置(表示なし)を有することができるが、このコンテクストにおいて、アダプタを使用することもできる。アダプタが使用される場合、これは、包括入力/出力ポート164’に差し込むことができる。
上記は、単なる例であり、アダプタの形態は、HMDとWWDとの間で大きく変化させることができると理解するべきである。
Claims (59)
- 患者の状態又は状況をモニタリングするワイヤレス健康状態モニタリングシステムであって、
包括入力/出力ポートを有する第一の通信ポートと、ネットワークとのワイヤレス通信のための回路を有する第二の通信ポートとを含むインターネット対応ワイヤレスウェブデバイスにして、
患者の状態又は状況に対応し且つ健康状態パラメータ決定手段により決定される健康状態パラメータと、
デバイスアプリケーションと、
ユーザインタフェースと、
を格納するように構成されるインターネット対応ワイヤレスウェブデバイスと、
コンピュータ可読媒体上に常駐し、ワイヤレスネットワークと通信するサーバ上に配置されるサーバアプリケーションにして、サーバに、
決定された健康状態パラメータを受領させ、
少なくとも部分的には決定された健康状態パラメータに基づいて、応答を計算させ、
前記応答をインターネット対応ワイヤレスウェブデバイスに提供させる、
サーバアプリケーションと、
を備えるワイヤレス健康状態モニタリングシステム。 - 包括入力/出力ポートが、ワイヤレス通信のためのポートを含む請求項1記載のシステム。
- 包括入力/出力ポートにより利用されるワイヤレス通信方式が、無線周波数を使用する請求項2記載のシステム。
- 利用されるワイヤレス通信方式が、ブルートゥースプロトコルを使用する請求項3記載のシステム。
- 利用されるワイヤレス通信方式が、802.11プロトコルを使用する請求項3記載のシステム。
- 利用されるワイヤレス通信方式が、赤外線を使用する請求項2記載のシステム。
- 包括入力/出力ポートが、シリアル通信のためのポートを含む請求項1記載のシステム。
- 包括入力/出力ポートが、パラレル通信のためのポートを含む請求項1記載のシステム。
- インターネット対応ワイヤレスウェブデバイスが、インターネット対応携帯電話と、オプションとして実施されるワイヤレス機能又は一体型ワイヤレス機能を有するハンドヘルド、パーム、又はラップトップコンピュータと、ハンドヘルドコンピュータ及び携帯電話のハイブリッドデバイスとにより構成される集合から選択される請求項1記載のシステム。
- インターネット対応ワイヤレスウェブデバイスが、ワイヤレス機能付きの携帯情報機器である請求項9記載のシステム。
- 健康状態パラメータ決定手段と、健康状態パラメータに対応するデータを配信するための出力ポートとを備える健康状態デバイスを更に備える請求項1記載のシステム。
- 健康状態デバイスの出力ポートとの接続のためのアダプタを更に備え、前記アダプタが、健康状態パラメータに対応するデータを配信するための出力を有する請求項11記載のシステム。
- アダプタ出力と包括入力/出力ポートとが、有線リンクを介して通信する請求項12記載のシステム。
- アダプタ出力と包括入力/出力ポートとが、ワイヤレスリンクを介して通信する請求項12記載のシステム。
- 包括入力/出力ポート及びアダプタ出力により利用されるワイヤレス通信方式が、無線周波数を使用する請求項14記載のシステム。

- アダプタの出力が、ディスク又はテープを含むストレージ装置と、USB接続と、電話接続と、マイクロ波と、レーザを含む光学手法と、スタイラスによる手動入力と、キーパッドと、PCからの同期と、これらの組み合わせとにより構成される集合から選択された媒体を介して、インターネット対応ワイヤレスウェブデバイスの包括入力/出力ポートと信号通信する請求項12記載のシステム。
- サーバアプリケーションが、アプリケーションサービスプロバイダにより提供及び管理される請求項1記載のシステム。
- サーバアプリケーションが、複数のノードを利用するアプリケーションであり、デバイスアプリケーションが、サーバアプリケーションのノードとして機能する請求項1記載のシステム。
- ノードが、アルゴリズムと、人工知能システムと、エキスパートシステムと、ルールベースシステムと、事例ベース推論システムと、これらの組み合わせとにより構成される集合から選択されたシステムのノードである請求項26記載のシステム。
- 健康状態パラメータを測定するセンサを更に備え、前記センサが、健康状態デバイスに結合された出力を有する請求項11記載のシステム。

- 補足健康状態データの入力のためのコンピュータを更に備え、前記コンピュータが、インターネット対応ワイヤレスウェブデバイス又はサーバと信号通信する請求項1記載のシステム。
- 健康状態デバイスが、エクササイズマシンであり、前記センサが、体重と、心拍数と、血圧と、温度と、代謝速度と、実行した仕事の量と、実行した仕事の速度と、コレステロールと、これらの組み合わせとにより構成される集合から選択された健康状態パラメータを測定するためのものである請求項28記載のシステム。
- 健康状態デバイスが、有酸素運動用具及び無酸素運動用具により構成される集合から選択されるエクササイズマシンである請求項28記載のシステム。
- エクササイズマシンが、トレッドミルと、エクササイズサイクルと、ローイングマシンと、ステッパとにより構成される集合から選択される請求項33記載のシステム。
- コンピュータを更に備え、前記コンピュータが、補足健康状態データを入力するためのものである請求項34記載のシステム。
- 患者の状態又は状況をモニタリングする方法であって、
インターネット対応ワイヤレスウェブデバイスに、ユーザインタフェース及びアプリケーションを提供するステップと、
患者の状態又は状態に対応する健康状態パラメータを、インターネット対応ワイヤレスウェブデバイスに、包括入力/出力ポートを介して入力するステップと、
健康状態パラメータをサーバにワイヤレスで伝送するステップと、
決定された健康状態パラメータをサーバで受領するステップと、
決定された健康状態パラメータに基づいて応答を計算するステップと、
応答をインターネット対応ワイヤレスウェブデバイスに配信するステップと、
を備える方法。 - 前記入力ステップが、健康状態パラメータを手動で入力するステップを更に含む請求項36記載の方法。
- 包括入力/出力ポートが、健康状態デバイスと信号通信する請求項36記載の方法。
- 包括入力/出力ポートが、有線接続を介して、健康状態デバイスと信号通信する請求項38記載の方法。

前記応答に応じた特徴を表示させる、
命令を含むコンピュータプログラム。 - ユーザインタフェース又はデバイスアプリケーションが、インターネット対応ワイヤレスウェブデバイスに包括入力/出力ポートからのデータを受領させる命令を含み、包括入力/出力ポートが、血糖値モニタと、血圧モニタと、体重計と、心拍数モニタと、呼吸数モニタと、温度モニタと、ECGモニタと、これらの組み合わせとにより構成される集合から選択された医療デバイスと信号通信する請求項48記載のコンピュータプログラム。
