Abstract
Relates to penicillins of the general formula <FORM:0874414/IV (b)/1> where n is 2, 3 or 4 such as 6-(5-cyclohexyl-valeramido), 6-(3-cyclohexylpropionamido) and 6-(4-cyclohexylbutyramido) penicillanic acid and to non-toxic salts thereof, which may be prepared by reacting 6-amino-penicillanic acid, preferably in the form of a neutral salt such as the sodium or triethylamine salt, with an acid chloride of the general formula <FORM:0874414/IV (b)/2> where n is 2, 3 or 4, or its functional equivalent as an acylating agent for a primary amino group such as the corresponding acid bromides, acid anhydrides and mixed anhydrides with other carboxylic acids, including monoesters of carbonic acid.
