Abstract

Relates to penicillins of the general formula <FORM:0931567/IV(a)/1> and non-toxic salts thereof where R is a halogen atom or an alkyl, aryl or nitro group, such as 2-methyl-, 2-ethyl- or 2-chloro-1-naphthyl penicillin. The penicillins may be prepared by reacting 6-aminopenicillanic acid, or a neutral salt thereof, with an acid chloride, bromide, anhydride or mixed anhydride of the corresponding carboxylic acid. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 880,400.
