Abstract
Relates to acids of the general formula <FORM:0888110/IV (b)/1> wherein X is a halogen atom and R is a hydrogen atom or a cyclohexyl, cyclopentyl or alkyl group, which may be prepared by reacting 6-amino-penicillanic acid, or a neutral salt thereof, with an acid chloride of the general formula <FORM:0888110/IV (b)/2> or with its functional equivalent as an acylating agent for a primary amino group such as the corresponding carboxylic acid bromides, acid anhydrides and mixed anhydrides with other carboxylic acids, and to non-toxic salts thereof. Typical examples of acids of the above formula are 6-(b -bromopropionamido), 6-(b -chlorobutyramido), 6-(b -iodopropionamido), 6-(b -chloropropionamido) and 6-(b -bromostearamido) penicillanic acid.
