810,329. Band brakes. SMITH & SONS (RODLEY) Ltd., T., and UPEX, J. T. April 25, 1957 [Aug. 3, 1956], No. 23951/56. Class 103 (1). [Also in Group XXX] A brake band 10 formed in two connected halves 11, 12 is applied to a member 7 of an epicyclic transmission to a crane hoist drum (Group XXX) by a lever 18 mounted on a pivot 19 and connected by a pivoted link 14a to one end of the band, the other end of the band being anchored at 13. The link 18 is turned to apply the brake by a hand lever 22 operating through a linkage 21, 21a, 20 and is released by a spring 34 connected through a link 31 to a clip 29.
