Abstract
758,482. Gas burners. PREY, G. O. G. Feb. 11, 1955 [Feb. 25, 1954], No. 5583/54. Class 75(1). A multi-jet burner comprises a manifold 9 having two ducts 8, 11, the duct 8 being supplied with a combustible mixture of gases e.g. hydrogen or acetylene and oxygen through control valves 3, 4 and communicating with flame jets 10 mounted on the manifold, the duct 11 conveying one of the gases e.g. oxygen to its control valve 4 whereby the oxygen is preheated and the manifold is cooled. The gases from the valves 3, 4 pass into a mixing chamber 5 and the mixture is conveyed by two branch pipes 7 to spaced points of the manifold duct 8. The cooling duct 11 traverses the length of the manifold twice.
