638,542. Gas or vapour burners. LUCAS, Ltd., J. March 25, 1948, No. 8790. [Class 75 (i)] [Also in Group XXVII] A gas or vapour burner, particularly for use in a hot air engine, of the type in which an annular combustion chamber b is fed with a mixture of gaseous or vaporized fuel and air from orifices j in an annular duct i, is provided with a turbulating ring k of channel section spaced by distance pieces n from the sides of the combustion chamber to form passages m for the flow or air to the open end of the ring, the forming of the distance pieces n also providing apertures for entry of air into the channel of the ring and additional orifices p also being provided for this purpose. The combustion products pass underneath a partition c and thence around preheaters e for the combustion air.
