Abstract
In brazing parts of aluminium or aluminium alloy, e.g containing 1.5 per cent manganese, at least one of the parts is coated with pure zinc or a zinc alloy containing up to 1.5 per cent of one or more of the following: up to 1 per cent copper, up to 1 per cent manganese, up to 1 per cent cadmium, up to 0.05 per cent magnesium, up to 0.05 per cent lithium, up to 0.02 per cent iron, up to 1 per cent lead, up to 0.5 per cent aluminium. An example of a coating layer is zinc alloy containing 0.25 per cent manganese. A molten flux bath in which brazing is effected comprises 43 per cent potassium chloride, 34 per cent lithium chloride, 8 per cent lithium fluoride and 15 per cent zinc chloride.
