Abstract

A flux, particularly for the welding or brazing of aluminium, magnesium or alloys thereof, comprises 20-30 per cent of cadmium chloride or of a mixture of cadmium and zinc chlorides, 25-30 per cent of lithium chloride, 7.5-10 per cent of sodium fluoride or bifluoride and the balance sodium and potassium chlorides; the zinc chloride content not exceeding 10 per cent and the total content of cadmium, zinc and lithuim chlorides being at least 50 per cent.
