Abstract
567,725. Fluxes. MAGNESIUM ELEKTRON, Ltd., FOX, F. A., and BUSHROD, C.J. June 21,1943, No. 9977. [Class 82 (ii)] Fluxes for welding magnesium and magnesium alloys, in particular alloys containing zirconium, comprise at least 95 per cent by weight of a mixture of chlorides and fluorides of lithium, sodium and potassium in which the individual elements are present in the following proportions, lithium 3.5-7 per cent., potassium 11-31 per cent., sodium 10.2-20 per cent., chlorine 38-81 per cent and fluorine 1.6-5 per cent. One example has the following composition, lithium chloride 25 per cent, potassium fluoride 10 per cent, potassium chloride 35 per cent, sodium chloride 30 per cent. The flux may also contain up to 5 per cent of intentional, non-deleterious addition such as barium chloride. Specification 511,137 is referred to.
