Abstract
561,748. Flux. MAGNESIUM ELEKTRON, Ltd., and LEECH, H. R. Nov. 18, 1942, Nos. 16310/42 and 188/43. [Class 82 (i)] Flux for use in melting magnesium, magnesium base alloys, and aluminium base alloys containing magnesium has a composition within the following range, viz : magnesium chloride 4-20 per cent, calcium chloride 25-55 per cent, sodium chloride 5-40 per cent, potassium chloride 5-40 per cent, and magnesium oxide 0-5 per cent. The sodium chloride and potassium chloride together amount to between 30 per cent and 60 per cent, and the five ingredients, excluding any impurities therein, amount to at least 95 per cent of the total. Various narrower ranges are given in the Specification, together with specific compositions of fluxes. Specifications 539,023 and 539,024 are referred to.
