562,642. Alloys. EVERY, C. E. (Titanium Alloy Manufacturing Co.) Sept. 22, 1942, No. 13349. Drawings to Specification. [Classes 72 and 82 (i)] An alloy for deoxidising iron and steel contains titanium, boron, aluminium and manganese, and preferably also silicon and iron. The alloy may contain 0.25-5 per cent boron, 5-25 per cent titanium, 5-25 per cent aluminium, 5-30 per cent manganese, and 10-40 per cent silicon, the remainder being iron with up to 3 per cent carbon and a small amount of phosphorus, sulphur, copper, and other impurities. Up to 5 per cent calcium may also be present. The amounts of titanium and aluminium present should each be at least twice the amount of boron ; and the amount of titanium should not exceed twice that of aluminium, and the amount of aluminium should not exceed twice that of titanium.
