Abstract
561,407. Alloys. STEVENS, A. H. (Vanadium Corporation of America). Sept. 20, 1941, No. 16637/42. Divided out of 556,770. [Class 82 (i)] An alloy, particularly used for the production of alloy steels, described in Specification 556,770, comprises 6-50 per cent of one or more of titanium, beryllium, boron and thorium, with aluminium in an amount not less than 1 per cent, the two latter elements together being not more than three times the content of the titanium &c., silicon less than 20 per cent and the remainder iron or another carrier metal such as manganese, nickel, copper, cobalt or chromium which may also replace part of the iron. The alloy may also contain molybdenum, tungsten, alkaline earth metals such as calcium, and lead, and the carbon content should be low preferably under 0.25 per cent.
