Abstract
127,930. Cooper Co. April 10, 1918. Addition to 113,259. Drawings to Specification. Alloys.-An alloy, particularly suitable for metal-cutting tools, contains a preponderating amount of nickel or cobalt, or both, 0.5 to 20 per cent of zirconium, and 1 to 12 per cent of aluminium or 1 to 10 per cent of silicon, or both aluminium and silicon, with or without 1 to 25 per cent of one or more of the following metals: tungsten, molybdenum, chromium, and uranium. Iron.may be present up to 7 per cent. An alloy, to which further amounts of nickel are added, and containing nickel, zirconium, aluminium, silicon, and iron, may be made by reducing a mixture of nickel oxide, Brazilian zirkite, and silica by means of aluminium powder.
