[Class 70] A composition for cutting tools comprises a sintered mixture of aluminium oxide and from 20 to 40 per cent of a metal such as iron, nickel or cobalt. The iron may contain 0À1 to 5 per cent of chromium, vanadium, titanium, cobalt or nickel. The composition may be of aluminium oxide and metal oxide, the latter being converted to the metal by sintering in a reducing atmosphere.
