Abstract
532,099. Alloys. CUTANIT, Ltd. April 15, 1939, No. 11536. Convention date, April 16, 1938. [Class 82 (i)] Sintered hard alloys consist of tungsten carbide with over 4.5 and up to 8 per cent. of titanium carbide and 9-15 per cent, of iron group metal. The particles of the initial mixture preferably have an average diameter of 3-20 microns. The alloys may be made by shaping, pressing, presintering, and machining a mixture of the powders, followed by a final sintering; or mixed crystals of the carbides may first be formed, and then powdered and mixed with the powdered iron group metal, this mixture being then treated as above. Specification 528,565 is referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 refers also to carbides of tantalum, niobium, vanadium, molybdenum, and chromium as constituents of the alloys, and also to lower and higher ranges of titanium carbide. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.,
