514,034. Hard carbide alloys. McKENNA, P. M. Dec. 5, 1938, No. 35448. Convention date, Dec. 13, 1937. [Class 82 (i)] [Also in Group V] . A hard abrasive or cutting composition comprises particles of the double carbide WTiC2 prepared as in Specification 514,033, [Group III], embedded in a metalliferous matrix. The matrix is preferably cobalt or nickel, if desired with tungsten or molybdenum, the two latter metals, if desired, being carburized or having carbon associated with them. Tantalum, zirconium, niobium or titanium or multicarbides may also be present. Specification 514,035 also is referred to.
