528,565. Alloys. CUTANIT, Ltd. Jan. 30, 1939, No. 3179. Convention date, Jan. 29, 1938. [Class 82 (i)] Hard alloys, particularly for tools, consist of tungsten carbide with 1.8-4.5 per cent. of titanium carbide and 9-15 per cent. of auxiliary metal comprising one or more of the metals iron, nickel and cobalt, the auxiliary metal content being 2-5 times the titanium carbide content. The effect of working a steel containing 0.9 per cent of chromium and 4.5 per cent. of nickel with a tool having a tip made according to the invention is referred to. Specification 391,984 is referred to. According to the Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91, the range of titanium carbide is wider, and carbides of tantalum, niobuim, vanadium, molybydenum, and chromium are referred to as constituents. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
