Abstract
579,643. Alloys. MOND NICKEL CO., Ltd. (International Nickel Co., Inc.). July 31, 1940, No. 12419. [Class 82 (i)] A cast insert for a piston ring of a diesel engine is made from an alloy consisting of 50-75 per cent of manganese, 5-20 per cent of nickel, 15-45 per cent of copper, up to 0.4 per cent of carbon, and a total of 1-6 per cent of one or more of the elements iron, aluminium, silicon, titanium and zirconium. An example consists of 59 per cent of manganese, 11.5 per cent of nickel, 27 per cent of copper, 0.2 per cent of carbon and 2.3 per cent of iron, aluminium and silicon.
