Abstract

An etching plate is made from a rolled plate of a Mg-base alloy containing 0.1-0.9 per cent Zr with or without up to 3.5 per cent Zn, the alloy being free from alloying constituents, e.g. Al, Si, Mn and Sn, which in the molten alloy combine with the Zr to form compounds which are insoluble in the Mg. Other elements, e.g. rare earth metals, Be and Cd may be present up to a total of 2 per cent. Specification 511,137 is referred to.
