Abstract

563,616. Alloys. FAIRWEATHER, H. G. C. (National Smelting Co.). Dec. 4, 1941, No. 15669. [Class 82 (i)] Aluminium alloys suitable for making castings such as pistons and other parts of internalcombustion engines contain 20-30 per cent of silicon, 0.2-3 per cent of magnesium, 1-5 per cent of copper, 0.3-2 per cent of manganese, and 0.4-2.5 per cent of iron, with, if desired, up to a total of 0.5 per cent of one or more grain refiners, such as boron or titanium.
