Abstract
563,994. Alloys. NATIONAL SMELTING CO. May 12, 1942, No. 6450. Convention date, Dec. 1, 1941. [Classes 72 and 82 (i)] Aluminium alloys, particularly suitablefor the manufacture of castings, such as pistons for internal-combustion engines, contain 18-35 per cent of silicon, 0.1-1 per cent of magnesium, 0.3-4 per cent of copper, 0.4-2 per cent of iron, and 0.3-4 per cent of zinc, together with one or more of the following elements in specified ranges and up to a total of 5 per cent manganese, nickel, chromium, cobalt, niobium, molybdenum, tungsten, vanadium, zirconium, cerium, titanium, tantalum, and boron. The castings may be quenched from the mould and heated for 12 hours at 355‹ F.
