Abstract
Magnesium and magnesium base alloys are rendered resistant to oxidation when in the molten state by addition thereto of 0.00005-0.002 per cent of beryllium. The treatment of alloys containing 0.5-14 per cent aluminium, 0.05-2.5 per cent manganese, 0.5-10 per cent zinc, 0.5-10 per cent cadmium, 0.1-1.5 per cent silicon, 0.01-0.5 per cent copper, 0.5-6 per cent silver, 0.1-7 per cent cerium, 0.02-0.5 per cent calcium or 0.1-1 per cent zirconium is referred to.
