Abstract
546,981. Magnesium. MAGNAL PRODUCTS, Ltd., PYLE, P. R. C., and SHEPPARD, N. C. Feb. 6, 1941, No. 1607. [Class 82 (i)] A product used as a constituent of fluxes for use in melting, casting, or refining magnesium is made by heating a mixture of ammonium chloride, an alkali or alkaline earth metal chloride, and a basic magnesium compound such as oxide or hydroxide, the mixture being maintained at about fusion temperature until all the ammonia has been driven off. The complete flux may be made by adding this product to other constituents such as potassium chloride or a mixture of sodium chloride and ' magnesium fluoride.
