661,440. Alloys. ABBEY, A. (Dow Chemical Co.). Aug. 15, 1949, No. 21243/49. Class 82(i) A magnesium base alloy contains 6-16 per cent Li, 14-35 per cent Zn balance Mg. Preferably 6-12 per cent Li, 14-25 per cent Zn and especially 7 per cent Li, 16 per cent Zn balance Mg. The Mg is first melted under a flux of lithium chloride and lithium fluoride. Zn is added at 1350‹F., and Li is added preferably at 1250‹F.
