544,349. Alloys. ABBEY, A. (Dow Chemical Co.). Oct. 4, 1940, No. 14893. [Class 82 (i)] Alloys particularly for use in de-oxidizing steel, copper, nickel, and lead consist of calcium containing 18-23 per cent. magnesium. The alloys may be made by adding calcium to molten magnesium with stirring, while protecting the surface of the molten metal by means of inert gas or a flux.
