Abstract

Alloys for use as anodes in the electrodeposition of tin consist of alloys of tin with aluminium, gallium or manganese, the proportion of alloying metal to tin being 0.1-2.0 per cent, preferably 0.1-1.0 per cent by weight. Tin-aluminium anodes may be prepared by first making up a master alloy of 90 per cent tin and 10 per cent aluminium and adding a calculated amount of this to a pure tin melt before casting. Similarly a master alloy containing 8 per cent of manganese may be used in the preparation of tin-manganese anodes.
