Abstract
572,415. Alloys ; solder. BRITISH ALUMINIUM CO., Ltd., and RICHMOND, J. T. April 2, 1943, No. 5314. [Class 82 (i)] A solder suitable for direct application to aluminium, and which will bond with the aluminium surface without the need for scraping or fluxing, consists of a zinc base, together with more than 5 per cent but not more than 12 per cent cadmium, together with more than 2 per cent but not more than 4 per cent manganese or 20-30 per cent tin, up to 4 per cent aluminium may be added. Specified alloys contain (i) zinc 65 per cent, tin 25 per cent, cadmium 10 per cent ; and (ii) zinc 90 per cent, magnesium 3 per cent, cadmium 7 per cent. Known compositions of zinc-tin and zinccadmium alloys are also referred to.
