Abstract

An aluminium alloy having composition comprised between the limits:-zinc 6 to 10 per cent, magnesium 1.5 to 3 per cent, copper 1 to 2 per cent, with the balance aluminium, is covered with a plating of an alloy having a composition comprised between the limits:-zinc 1 to 1.5 per cent, magnesium 1.5 to 2.5 per cent, the balance being aluminium. The coating alloy may also contain 0.4 to 1.5 per cent manganese with or without 0.2 to 0.8 per cent chromium. The two alloys may be united by soldering, hot rolling or extrusion.
