Abstract

Sheets of commercial aluminium containing impurities are protected by coating them with an aluminium silicon alloy which combines improved strength with hardness and good corrosion resisting qualities. The coating alloy contains 11 to 13 per cent. silicon with, perhaps, 1 per cent. or less of copper, magnesium, or zinc, the remainder being aluminium.
