686,919. Endless-chain mining-machines. ANDERSON, A., and ANDERSON, BOYES & CO., Ltd. Aug. 27, 1951 [July 13, 1950], No. 17612/50. Class 68(i) A long wall mining machine comprises a base frame 1 on the leading end of which is mounted a shearing chain cutter jib 4, whilst a gear head 2 and a pre-undercutting chain cutter jib 3 that extends outwards beyond the plane of the shearing jib are located on said frame 1 rearwards of said shearing jib. Loading means are provided consisting of an oscillatory lever 5 equipped with claw means at one end and at the other fulcrummed on a swing lever itself pivoted at 8 on the machine frame 1, the lever 5 being oscillated by an eccentric or a crank 9 connected to said lever intermediate the ends. A pre-overcutting jib may be provided. The machine' is advanced by a doubleacting fluid pressure cylinder 12 containing a piston connected to an. extensible prop 14.
