Abstract
683,449. Mining-machines. EICKHOFF MASCHINENFABRIK UND EISENGIESSEREI, GEB. Jan. 30, 1951 [Oct. 13, 1950], No. 2256/51. Class 68(i) A mining-machine that is advanced on the side forms of a face conveyer 1 has a laterally projecting endless chain cutter jib 6 situated adjacent the base of the machine so as to cut a kerf in said face at 2 at approximately the upper level of the side forms of the conveyer, and additional cutting means 11 following said jib to make a cut parallel to that made by the jib and adjacent to the mine'floor 3. The additional cutting means is arranged on the lower part of a drive head 9 which is swingable about a vertical axis by an arm 10 pivotable about a horizontal axis. The cutting means comprises a hollow pickarmed cylinder 11 rotated about a shaft rigidly secured in the arm 10 by suitable drive mechanism from which operates the jib 6.
