Abstract

642,001. Mining-machines. LOGAN MINING MACHINERY CO., Ltd., and LOGAN, W. A. Jan. 30, 1948, No. 2803. [Class 68 (i)] In a cutter loader machine of the type described in Specification 411,256, the top cutter jib 10 is mounted on a turret at the face side of the machine and has a greater reach beyond the face side than the lower cutting jib 16. The turret assists in breaking the cut mineral from the working, deflecting it onto a conveyer 20. As the machine advances, the jib 10 which extends on either side of the line of the shear cut 11, besides cutting down the coal on the machine side of the shear cut, forms a ledge in the new face to support the inner ends of roof beams. A mid-cutter 19 is also provided. Specifications 493,946 and 504,647 also are referred to.
