Abstract

623,521. Mining-machines. LOGAN MINING MACHINERY CO., Ltd., and LOGAN, W. A. May 13, 1947, No. 12872. [Class 68 (i)] A mining-machine of the cutter-loader type has a shearing jib 1, a bottom jib 2 and an upper jib, each carrying cutter-chains, a plate 3 below the shearing jib deflecting gum or cuttings therefrom to a transverse conveyer 4 from which it is delivered by an archimedean screw system 5 through an opening 6 to a face conveyer; a further transverse conveyer 8 delivers gum from the bottom jib by way of an archimedean screw system 9 and an opening 10 to the face conveyer. The conveyers 4, 8 are preferably endless chain conveyers disposed in a substantially vertical plane. An elevator 15 removes the cut coal.
