Class 68(1) [Also in Group XXX] In a coal-mining machine, the scraper discs 16 of a face conveyer are secured to a single endless chain 15 which circulates through two troughs 13, 14, the trough 14 being above the trough 13. A plough 19 loads coal for conveyance along the face into the trough 14 which may be displaced laterally of the closed lower trough 13 and acts as a guide for the plough. A cable channel may be provided in the vertical wall of the upper trough or, if the troughs are laterally displaced with respect to each other, the power cables 18 are housed in the space 22. A tube 23 carrying the return run 24 of the plough haulage chain is also disposed in said space 22. The vertical wall of the trough 14 is hinged to the base of the trough over the whole or parts of the length thereof.
