Class 68(1) A coal planer 17 is drawn along a mine face 10 by an endless chain 18 and is guided by a rail 16 positioned at the side of a trough conveyer 11, 12, 13, and by the shoes 21 of supporting arms 20 which extend from the planer over the conveyer and partially encircle the tubular guide,channel 19 of the return run 18<SP>1</SP> of said chain 18. The tubular channel 19 is positioned directly above the conveyer trough.
