628,793. Mining-machines. YARMAK, J. Oct. 17, 1947, No. 27799. [Class 68 (i)] In a chain cutting mining machine, friction between the guide grooves and the pick-carrying chain 18 is reduced by supporting the chain clear of the back of the groove on rollers 19, 20, 21 so that the chain no longer slides along the back of the groove. The rollers have a diameter approximately equal to the width of the jib, the chain-supporting portions of rollers 20, 21 projecting through apertures in the main beams 8, 9 of the jib. The peripheries of the rollers are staggered in parallel planes enabling the rollers to overlap, so reducing the distance between adjacent supporting points of the chain.
