663,324. Endless-chain coal-mining machines. ANDERSON, A., and ANDERSON, BOYES, & CO., Ltd. June 30, 1950. [June 26, 1949] No. 19614/49. Class 68 (i). The trepanning jib 10 of a mining-machine has tracks for two implement-carrying chains 11, 12 that circulate in spaced parallel upright planes extending laterally and normally to the line of travel of the machine, said chains being convertible to function alternately, depending on the direction of travel of the machine, as a chain cutter 13 and as a loader conveyer 14. The chain which has been converted for loading purposes is equipped with wedge and impact members 15 to break down the mass of mineral emerging from the aperture of the jib. The chains may be interconnected by cross bars and an endless chain cutter can be provided in the upper part of the jib at right angles to the plane of the jib for cutting away the roof.
